Asobo really have progressed since Innocence. Requiem looks beautiful even on medium settings with high textures. Cutscenes especially look better in comparison to Innocence because facial animations are less stiff and characters feel more alive because of that.

Requiem looks better overall but I'm having some gripes with the changes done to the faces here. The eyes imo look better in Requiem but Amicia looks drastically different from the first game, and I'm not talking about her face becoming thinner and sharper (which is understandable because of what she went through) but in particular her forehead suddenly doubled in size and it makes her look like a completely different person. While Hugo, Lucas, and Beatrice are still on the whole recognizable.

Absolutely agree with you. Had the same feelings - all for nothing.. And Amicia looked in Innocence much better imho. For me the first game will always be canon, the second one - is just like an unfinished fanfic... Also it's kind of weird to see such drastic changes in appearance if the timeline between both games - is just six months.

@Stirteenth Thep you do know this is not a AAA studio? They do not have the funds or manpower like Rockstar or CDProject red. The fact that a minor studio could pull this off better than most big studios says a lot. Also be prepared, very soon games will bump that minimum requirement quite a bit once true 9nth gen games start to roll out.

Yeah- my 40” Hisense UHD W Dolby Vision and Atmos at 120 fps coming from Xbox Series X is seeming to be a power house. Both games are incredible. Even though they did Not include ray tracing in this latest Plague Tale game. Anyways took my hat off for this game and the last. Both were epic 10/10

First game was built for ps4/XOne generation. Second game really utilised new rendering by technology designed for modern PC and PS5/Series X hardware. Also they used their own engine which is very impressive. This is what Unreal 5 will be pushing out in future games.

VRAM usage for 4K ultra settings with an RTX 4090 moved from 5gb for innocence to 8.5gb for Requiem at least unlike game like LAST OF US you can see where the added VRAM is required.

What i like about these games is they have a cartoon like art style blended with realism, and they actually did it properly. Lots of games have tried that, and it just looks awful. But plague tale nailed it. Havent played the 2nd game yet will be soon, but innocence certainly looks like it got the art style blending better than reqiuem based on this video. Brighter colors, and lighting effects that resembled bloom.

first one was more dramatic storywise and more friends based.. you can use help of some friends and enjoy their companionship.. but the second one is more badass, she is more angry the scenery and the historic buildings are more beautiful.. and plague games have unique gameplay style.. your little brother holding your hands and follow you everywhere you go.. in the first game you can release the child and get into action and go back to grab him, but this feature is missing in the second game game is different from other games; very little equipments (like resident evil) , thus less action, more stealth, more exploration.. no map, very little character improvements, no dialogue selection thus no rpg elements..

Not much difference in graphics except the sequel is a downgrade in framerate. They didnt try harder to optimize the game to run at 60fps. This gen, lazy developers think they can get away with locked 30 fps because there are more headroom for them to target 30 fps, and they just lock it to get a consistent 30fps. Even if they can optimize it further to get to 60fps. Look at the better looking games lik Rift apart and Forbidden west. If they can run at 60 fps then these devs have no excuse, aside from being lazy

People really don’t understand how FPS works… FPS has nothing to do with next gen. COD ran at 60 fps on the PS3. FPS and graphical quality are pulling from the same pool of computing power. More FPS? Less graphics. More graphics? Less FPS. 60 FPS was so readily available this far this gen BECAUSE of so many cross gen games. Obviously the PS5 can run PS4 games at 60 fps. But when game developers fully target next gen consoles, the only way to get 60 fps is to extend dev time with optimization or reduce the graphical quality. Alot of gamers really misunderstand this. You can’t get a game the maximizes the PS5 with reasonable dev time AND get 60 fps. Either longer dev time or less graphics.

That's what 3rd party devs always do. They deliberatly stiffle the performance on consoles to please pc hardware manufacturers especially nvida. That's what happens every gen. The cards or cpus that out perform consoles at the begenning of a generation the same hardware absolutely struggle to run games on par with console settings 4 years down the line. Yet that same hardware was out performing consoles at the begenning of the generation. When horizon forbidden west an open world graphics power house can run locked 60 fps. For that matter aother utterly stunning open world game spiderman miles moralis runs at a locked 60 fps with ray tracing enabled. How on earth plague tale requirm can't run at 60 fps is beyond me. Shame on this developer.
