40:00 Some of the inconsistencies in the story come from a total revamp of the game halfway through due to devastating test results. Many aspects of the story, gameplay and environments were rewritten and redesigned. For example during the scene in Hugo's room you hear recordings of Lucas' dialogue in which you can year the shift of age from the actor for the added lines. The development of the game is one of the examples of something on the brink of failing became something great as everyone pulled together fixing it - like the filming of the movies "Gladiator" or "Back To The Future".

This is great context to add. I was aware of the fact that the epilogue was added during the revamp, but didn't know that this affected that particular scene. I agree that particularly the additional epilogue balances the pacing of the ending so much better than if it had been left after the boss fight, and Asobo did a fantastic job responding to the negative feedback during testing.

Just finished the game and I was really surprised how brilliant it felt throughout. I agree with a lot but I experienced the reveal of the prima macula having something to with the rats a lot differently. The headaches already alluded to this from early on and I didn’t find that problematic at all. Every other point I agree with but I somehow it still became my favorite game. Brilliant video. Can’t wait to finish Requiem so I can watch that video

Subbed, you deserve more sub's, this game was so much fun to play, I got so emotional by the end, was sobbing, it was an amazing platinum experience, looking forward to playing the sequel, heard it's better, and the story is also even more emotional.🙏💯

Thanks! That means a lot. If you like the first game for its emotional narrative, then I think you'll love the second one. I'd fully recommend it to you!

I think a mistake here is analyzing the game without recognizing there is no difficulty setting. This is why more resources are available than necessary. The second game adjusts for this, I don't believe they thought it would be as big as it became.
It's good, but at what cost? An analysis of A Plague Tale: Requiem
