Maybe it would have affected the game's rating and countries it could be sold in (?). Playable realistic children who can die is probably frowned upon. Amicia is old enough to get around that.

Technically they did, just not in the way they were hoping. They wanted some magical elixir to cure him, when I think the point of the dream was to show that the way the Order deals with the Carriers only make things worse.
