It also makes sense for the fact why mother mirador and the other Lords attempt to stop ethan from collecting all the rose flasks, but even though we knew the Duke was one of the Lords however I didn't think he was going to end up being evil after helping you all the while during the main game, unless he was only helping you so that you could kill dimatrescue, so that he could take her place

Been an RE fan since the original game back when I was a kid. I've watched the franchise grow and evolve, not liking the changes RE4 brought along at first, but grew to love it. RE7 was another one I took a while warming up to, but that's only because I wasn't used to First Person games. After Village and this, I can firmly say that I still love the franchise, no matter how it is turning out. Ethan has come to be one of my most beloved characters. His love and devotion to his wife and daughter are admirable and honestly, I can't find much in the way of faulting this DLC and Village overall.

People shit on Ethan for some odd reason, but I hoping people can now greatly appreciate him alongside the greats like Jill, Claire, Leon and Chris. All 5 of them have a dedication to protect something and combat anything that harms that something. Ethan is just more relatable because we can understand what a parent would do for their child. I love the OG characters as well, but Ethan is more relatable and first time I find myself in my feels with a RE game. I have been playing RE since I was born, and for once the characters are becoming more fleshed out. RE never had a bad story to begin with (wacky for sure, but it's sci-fi), just the characters never have been fully developed (not to say they are not, just not nearly to the level Ethan is) but we're finally seeing that!

I had to laugh though at the reveal that was killed immediately at the start of 7. Didn't help that RE7 was a huge departure from the franchise. Well he _is_ the only lord of shadows Ethan did not have to fight during the main game, that much was proven time and again, the ample man even bears his own family crest and he was designed as a real foe for Ethan during the concept phase. Unfortunately, his presence within the metamycete realm can only mean one thing, he too fell victim to the mold, and based on the logs of Miranda, he was the perfect guinea pig to test her brainwashing techniques on, removing all of his memories and leaving only the craving. A pity, IMHO.

@@chlorosokita596 Nah. In the first section of the DLC, there's a note that states "I do not recall a single thing, not who I am, nor how I came to be, I know nothing. My memories are as broken as the face beneath this mask, blah blah blah I gotta hunt the rabbits". Everybody else Rose encounters in the Megamycite remembers EXACTLY who they are - Evelyn knows she is Evelyn, Ethan knows he is Ethan, Miranda knows she is Miranda - The Duke, cannot remember anything other than when he began existing in the Mycite. Miranda's notes state that she managed to create an approximation of a being by using the memories found in consciousnesses within the Megamycite to create an entity - And that the entity she managed to create by using these approximations resembled a 'man she once knew, but with a deeply warped psyche, and missing part of his face' - Potentially because, in formal matters, the Duke perhaps wore a mask similar to the one he wears in the Mycite. It's not the original Duke, it's a jigsaw puzzle of other peoples' memories of, feelings towards and experiences regarding the Duke as an experiment, and then tasked solely to hunt the Rose Dolls to find a suitable host - The ACTUAL Duke left the village after fulfilling Ethan's favor and delivering him to Miranda, and is still active - If you try and buy from his store during the final act, he tells you that this is your last chance to buy, and he'll be leaving immediately afterwards.

I'm not gonna lie : I cried 3 times during this playthrough. I really identified well with Rose's character, but I guess anyone who feels a little "different" from the norm can relate to as well. I really love the fact that they kept the "spiritual" (I don't want to say "supernatural") part with the ghosts element (Eveline, Miranda, Ethan), I love the fact that Rose is able to channel / canalyse her powers thanks to crystals. Overall, the story is very emotional and touching, it really feels like since Resident evil 7, Capcom put more soul in the franchise than action, and that's a good thing. Really well done Capcom, thanks for this wonderful DLC!

I dunno if Ethan could ever really come back, and if he does physically it would slightly devalue all that he did... both here and in the original Village and 7. But with how the mold seems to record people's conciousness, like how the original Bakers were still in there, sweet as can be, how Eveline was still in there being a grade A bully, and how Ethan is still in there, watching over Rose... I feel like she'll never truly be apart from him, and he'll always be literally with her. Kinda want to see her talk to Mia about this whole thing too, feel like they could really connect over how amazing Ethan was/is.
