Back in the early 1960's I had a cousin who had the habit of putting objects up his nose , which caused his mother to take him to the emergency room. The item of choice was butter beans, which would swell up when coming into contact with moisture. He never would tell anyone until he was noticed sticking his pinky up his nose trying to dislodge it, which never worked.

My little girl had shoved a pearl up her nose, had some blood and was very scared. I told her it was going to be OK since I had the same thing happen to me when I was her age and we got it out. She said, "Daddy...what did you have up your nose?" I replied....."A ham sandwich". As soon as her eyes got big and as the laugh came, I closed the good nostril, and put my hand over her mouth. The back pressure from her big laugh shot the pearl right out into the tissue and Dr. Daddy had saved a trip to the doctor. Good memories!

I did this when I was four. Unfortunately the small hole of the bead was pointed right in line with my nostril, so to the ER right before our vacation we went! Mom said that the doctor told me to hold REALLY STILL and he hooked a little metal curette in there and popped it right out; yup early 90s and not everything was disposable yet. Mom (an RN) was impressed both that I didn't cry or struggle and that the doctor was so good with the curette, lol.

When I was five, I went into the hospital to have my tonsils removed. I shared a room with an old man in his 80s who had shoved a bobby pin up his nose as a young child and since it hadn't bothered him, he'd never had it removed. Now he was retired, he had no family left, and nothing left to do, so he decided the time had finally come to have it surgically removed.

Pediatric dentist here. A 6 yr old female came for routine checkup and there was the most hideous smell coming from the child's mouth. I could not see a reason for this odor so I referred her to pediatrician. She had stuck a piece of foam rubber up her nostril. She'd found it in the ditch at the bus stop. @sillyotter90473 жыл бұрын
He didn't do it because he knew it was wrong and did it anyways, he didn't know not to do it. He's very little. And kicking is a reflex, you need to understand that children simply do not have the control over their reflexes and the cognitive ability necessary to sit still when something is uncomfortable. He's getting a treat because this was an accident that lead to discomfort and stress. The punishment for doing it was that this had to happen. He knows not to do it again.
