I am from Russia. When I was 4 years old I was running on the road without upholstery and a glass got stuck in my leg. They removed it without any support and took it out with anesthesia.

Had this happen to me and blood starting shooting all over in the tub. I had to start yelling for my wife to help me get a rag to tie off. I freaked the whole house out.

I had mine drained in 2016 when I couldn't walk or sit. I went to the ER and they drained it with no lidocaine or any sort of pain medication. I was crying the whole time because it hurt so badly. Then they packed and it hurt like hell when it came time to pull it out.

What?!? That is straight torture! I’m so sorry you had to endure that! I hope you haven’t had any flare ups. If I were the Dr I would load the patient up with pain killers/or sedation before even touching an abscess like that! My husband gets these but we can’t afford the $5,000 surgery (with insurance) to remove the whole track, so he goes to his GP who numbs it and lances it a few times a year. Poor guy is miserable during it so I can’t imagine how you felt!!!

The child was under IV conscious sedation with ketamine, and was hooked to a heart monitor. There may have been changes in heart rate and blood pressure due to stimulation during the procedure which set off the monitor alarms

I was put under, had it removed, sewn up, spent a night in the hospital and never had a recurrence. This was almost 30 years ago. So glad a had an excellent surgeon at a teaching hospital.
