You can still purchase from the store, you just need to add funds via the PS app or your PS5, for supposedly doing research, it’s a neglected point in your review. Sony hasn’t made any overtures to close the store recently (outside the original attempt that was met with vocal resistance), I just purchased several games recently via the method I mentioned above. There’s no doubt that it will in the future probably close, but as of this posting it’s still up and running as usual. You just have to add funds in a backwards way via your own PlayStation 4/5 or your PS account via website or app.

Hadn't used my launch Vita in many years until watched the GTA6 trailer and saw a video in my recommendations about GTA San Andreas on the Vita. So I modded it like 6 months and have since then played mostly on my Vita while the Ps5 waits for the Elden Ring DLC. So far I replayed San Andreas, GTA 3 and Vice City, Jak&Daxter and Sly Cooper Collections, Burnout Legends, SSX On Tour, Tony Hawks Underground 2 Remix, both PSP Wipeouts (can be played in native Vita res now!), Midnight Club, Mario 64 Port (native res and 60FPS!), and some Rayman Legends. There are some of the best ever Jump'nRuns and racing games available on the Vita. Its definitely is a bit of a hassle to get it all running and some community ports don't have stable performance, but I honestly currently prefer playing on this little thing because its sleek, is very portable, has good buttons, amazing battery life and it offers an amazing library of games, many of which I haven't played since childhood and many gems I had missed. I am currently replaying Pokemon Emerald, lol.

There are a few battery replacement options out there, but I dont know if theyre better. They seem to just be OEM replacements.
@chimpmonumentis5775 ай бұрын
The Slim provides the best battery life without any modifications. Although if you’re interested in other options there are mods which allow you to install a Galaxy Note battery inside a Vita which does drastically improve battery life, but doesn’t exactly work flawlessly. The system isn’t able to detect the higher capacity so the charge percentage on the system gets a bit confused and could randomly turn off even with a decent amount of charge left in the system. Although inserting a charger will correct the problem and let you keep chugging with your Vita.
@exmerionАй бұрын
1:38 this is the case with almost all second iteration "slim" consoles. Even different SKUs after launch of the PS5 has cut backs on the cooling system. Same thing the 3ds vs 3ds XL or more obviously the 2ds. they were both cheaper production. It's a shame the Vita was overshadowed by the hype around phone games at the time and hamstrung by it's poor choice of proprietary memory.

Ha, no. The proprietary stuff was certainly no novelty back then, it's probably the biggest reason the Vita didn't succeed. Back then the micro SD card was a must for phones, and the Vita didn't support it but its most notable competitor, the 3DS, did. SD cards were cheap and widely available so you could just fill one up and swap to another and have plenty of storage, and the Vita proprietary cards were the price of a game at their cheapest option, and over a hundred dollars for their max at 64GB. Go figure. I loved the Vita from day one, but I could not recommend it in good conscience back in the day. Nowadays, thanks to the community, it's an easy recommend; which yeah, it's crazy that it still hits where it needs to, well after a decade.

As far as piracy goes, I'm pretty much in agreement. Also, if it's a case where the console isn't dead, but the game is no longer being made, and as a bonus the developer that made the game no longer exists, then yeah pirating it may be acceptable, especially as it'll be another case of someone's selling it for a ridiculous price. But, one thing to be aware of for if you pirate games is the game itself may have an anti-piracy feature. For Command & Conquer Generals (and maybe others), your base blows up after a minute or two of playing. For Black & White 2, your villagers do not age, which doesn't sound like a bad thing, until you realize that because nobody ages, children never become adults and therefore, they never get to work. So you could have 50 working adults and 500 children wandering around. And say goodbye to most of your plans of an evil run because you likely will not have enough people to keep making armies for that evil run. Anyway, in some cases, piracy is just about as difficult as getting the game legally. Like for a PS2 game, sure, you could try to pirate it to play for free, but most PS2 emulators require you to have the actual game. Some require you to have the actual console for some reason, which to me kinda defeats the point of the emulator. And another case where piracy may be acceptable, though this is a bit of an extension to Garrett's point, is if you already bought the physical copies of the game for a dead console, that console no longer works, and the physical copies don't fit into your computer. I'm talking about the PSP. My actual PSP doesn't work like it used to. I have two games for it and they do not fit into any disc tray that I'm aware of for PC. And my only option left to play them is through an emulator.

Sony (and a few other companies in Japan 🇯🇵) had A LOT of money from the great economic boom in the 90s. This caused a lot of strange phenomena in the business world. Many Japanese companies were so wealthy and so technologically advanced, they would regularly over-engineer their products, essentially making those said products instantly become "ahead of their time". This is why the Toyota Supra can compete with hypercars released last month. And it's why the Vita is still so relevant today. Sony really over-engineered 4 consoles: the PS2, the PSP, the PS3, and the PS Vita. The PS2 has slowly succumbed to time, mostly because of aesthetic choices. But the PSP, PS3, and PS Vita are so well designed that, if you didn't know, it would be easy to think those consoles came out less than a decade ago. Meanwhile the PSP and PS3 have reached two decades and the Vita is over one decade. It's mind-boggling.

The battery is shit and the I only had an extra 8 gb memory stick on top of its 16 gb internal flash. I’ve modded it almost fully since. All I’m waiting for is a new back shell that’s larger but allows me to install a much larger battery. I currently have a 128 gb SD card installed with an SD card adapter you plug and tuck back into the shell after removing it. Once tucked you just close it up and never have to change the memory card again. I already have a ps classic so I’m staying away from ps1 games but I am using other emulators lol.
