Hi, this looks very interesting. What is the maximum pitch/inclination angle one could do with reasonable power levels? Could this be used to model vertical motion, like for example elevators?

IDL has a video showing near-vertical: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHbVqGNvf7qmers Power levels would be higher than propulsion-only, so heating would be an issue. You could also sandwich the elevator between two vertical tracks, which would make things much simpler.

are junctions possible with this type of setup?

Simple non-switching junctions that have one track always turning right and the other left or something similar are dead easy - they are no harder than the basic track pieces. Ones that actively switch direction are doable but a lot trickier. I have had one working as a crude proof-of-concept prototype, and a real one is on the (long) list of things to do for this year.

Where do I purchase this linear motor track and drive system?
@modelrailmusings59817 жыл бұрын
Alas, I don't have the patent rights to be able to sell these tracks. The closest commercially-available equivalents would be from IDL Motors (teenytrains.com) (who do own the patent rights for this concept), and magnorail.com for a mechanical chain-drive system.
