So happy to see this engine making an appearance! I watched your channel for about 6 months and then bought one of these as a pre-machined kit to learn how the engines work - my first engine, and still works great!

I had to use one of those "extra violent" bits before in a 90 degree air grinder. Those are rather hard to learn to handle right... Sort of glad you made this video. Really helps with me feeling like I'm either missing something with work orthat I am out of my mind. So glad to know I'm not out of my mind. Not quite yet anyways.

A few people missed the point of this video by not liking it. As I make Tutorials I wanted to show beginners at least one way that was not a good idea. This flywheel was a very poor casting. In a late video from the series you will see that it comes out OK after all . . . .

Hey, i'm really enjoying your videos, as a complete beginner, you're teaching me a lot! I watched your video about your proxxon tools from a few years ago them and wondered if your opinion of them has held up. It's a considerable chunk of change. Thanks!

After checking with PM Research they said that the crosshead guide screws are 5-40 x 1/2" and the cylinder cover screws are 5-40 x 3/8". I have ordered some hex head screws in 5-40 x 1/2" size bit I don't know if the heads will be to large. I will have to cut them down for the 3/8 length.

Unfortunately at one time or another I think I have used every method you showed on that flywheel plus a few others, I have the scars to prove it, the parts usually ended up in the rubbish bin or scrap metal pail.

I wonder if the tool wouldnt grab as much of there was some oil on it. Similar to when working aluminum.

It makes no difference, the tool is far too coarse.

That's very brave tackling those wheel spokes with a die grinder and not working to a pattern ! I know you are a stickler for detail so hopefully you will show how to make sure to get each spoke the same as the others and not grind holes in your fingers during the process, or slip into a coma due to extended filing, sanding and polishing sessions !

@@keithappleton I understood that but you are saying 'you should never do this' and also displaying reasonable control over the part and the tool by not destroying the part or your fingers. Often beginners will think 'well if he can do it how hard can it be ?'. Is it wise to show the wrong way first ?

I would think that a small die filer would be useful for that sort of fettling job if anyone happens to own such an exotic beast. I've often thought of trying to fabricate one. Best laid plans and all.

I make Tutorials for beginners, and I think that not a lot of beginners will have die grinders . . . . .

@@keithappleton That was just thinking out loud by a confirmed tool junkie.

Wish we had Halfords in Portugal there nearest we have is absolute crap, unless you restrict yourself to about 6 colours and a rubbish metal primer that does absolutely nothing.

Some of that fettling was a little unsettling.
