This is an incredibly poignant piece, as its known that one of Jim's greatest fears was time. I remember a live action short film he made called Time Piece, that featured, among other things, Jim clad in a tophat and coat-tails, frantically running through a field of wheat against a clear blue sky, looking over his shoulder like the devil himself was after him. What was chasing him was time, mortality. He somehow knew that he didnt have enough time to make all the art that was in his head.

The Muppets have brought lots of enjoyment to many people (and continue to do so!). This is a beautiful song which was made more popular with children through this. Jim Croce wrote this song in Dec 1970, after he found out his wife, Ingrid, was pregnant (with their son Adrian). The song wasn't released as a single until after Jim's death (aged 30) in 1973 when its message became more poignant. Adrian went on to be a song writer.

This has been on my mind a lot recently. I just turned 28, and reread Jim Henson's biography by Brian Jay Jones. And honestly, I came to the conclusion that this is almost autobiographical for Jim. He always feared running out of time in the wake of his brother's passing, and him performing and voicing the puppets used in this segment as the scientist gets younger and younger with each verse only to revert to old age again just tears me up now, realizing it.

I know that they did scenes which evolved and also characters evolved. it must be wonderful to be able to forsee the whole thing with a team. and really male ot work. the new episodes the humour seems less powerful. great shame.
