After a tough watch, Unai's interview was what I needed. Perspective is everything! Remember last game when we got conference league and everyone was completely ecstatic. We've surpassed that and still got 3 games to get points from, already qualified for a better European competition and in the Semi-final. Yeah agreed. It's hard not to completely overreact when we lose a lead like that. I guess it's frustrating because one week your schooling the leagues in form team and the next your falling apart again in the second half against a team that has been shocking most of the season.

Great show as ever mate. Major problem we’ve had this season has been defending 2-0 leads. In the Prem, we’ve gone 2-0 in front 15 times! but we’ve only managed to keep a clean sheet in 4 of them! We’ve still got one of the best records for points dropped from winning positions, which ofc is fantastic! But we’ve let teams back into comfortable leads far far too often. If we can solve that in the summer we will be laughing! Reality is that injuries have made everything so much harder to manage. We’ve done unbelievably well since January to pick up points whilst playing poorly. (Bournemouth & arsenal games aside where we were excellent). 51 games played, half the team missing & we still managed to draw last night feels like a positive. I think if we pick up 4 points out the last 3 games vs Palace, Brighton and Liverpool we’ll finish top 4, and if you’d said that at the start of the season I’d have bit your hand off! Last push now let’s get it done UTV

Morgan Rogers: strength, skill, growing confidence, massive potential! My frustration - his first touch is loose and he regularly loses possession. Tighten this up and he could easily double the amount of times he turns defence into attack for the Villa. I can’t wait to see him next season!

Luke, It's all about perspective. The likes of Chelsea, Man Utd /City Liverpool etc ALL expect to be challenging for the Title/Champions league etc etc but we were happy to be in the top half and not fighting relegation, so we have already exceeded expectations by having at least a 5th place finish......Wow ! congratulations to the team/manager and club. A bit more of a push and we could get 4th and win the Conference league. We have had some dodgy games this season but the position reflects how we have performed overall, not individual games. Very proud of our progression so far and fingers crossed we can make it even better UTV !!

Yes congratulations to Emery,his coaching etc staff and the team for finishing at least 5th and so far in the semis of the Europe Conference League. We've not had such a season as this for at least 15 years and then we finished no higher than 6th in the early 2000s under MON. Even when martin O,Niell was at Villa 6th was our highset position so a minimum of 5th is a great testiment of emery and his staff and the players for their endevour. Even more so when you look at the injuries we have had which deprived us of a constant defence and midfield. Even last night, we lost early on a midfielder and at half time the best keeper in the premier. We are really stretched, and last night, we looked tired and came against a very good Chelsea team who, unfortunately, for us turned up last night. it would be an unbelievable achievement if we make top 4. What a season they have treated us to. No matter what happens from now on we can celebrate a great season and look forward to more to come

Happy with the point because AV were outplayed! Good league position now, as Spurs lost at home to Arsenal and they have tough games to play e.g. Chelsea away next for them and we've seen how good Chelsea can be and I think Chelsea's young squad is now gelling. Our injury pile up concerns me and I really hope it doesn't scupper our semi-final chances - must get a decent lead from the home 1st leg to give a good chance of reaching the final. 5th in Prem guaranteed and 4th is within reach but squad is very stretched. You're right about Morgan's celebration. Morgan & Cole came up through the youth system at Man City and I have it on good authority from someone who worked with the youth team that it was Morgan who did it first, it then became a bit of a trademark celebration for a number of those City youth players. It was Morgan's celebration when he had a really good loan spell at Lincoln City as a teenager. Carried it on at Middlesbrough and is now doing it for the Villa! 😀 Hopefully it's a celebration we see as often as possible!! 🦁 UTV

Great content as usual Luke, but we did scrape the point last night, stole even ? But during the game Martinez, Luiz, Tielemans, Bailey and Diaby were all removed from play, Diaby cannot be very happy as a sub to be substituted later in the game. I did feel Villa were light weight again, bullied ? Again ? Maybe Unai had an eye on Semi final later next week ? I feel that Unai still needs to work his magic on Diaby and Duran ? Move on UTV.

Well done for highlighting Robin Olsen's improvement - a credit to the coaching staff and the player himself. I do feel he was at fault for the confusion with Carlos because he came out too far - Carlos would normally have played the ball back to him but by coming outside his area he made the distance between them too close. Having said that, Carlos then made a mess of his clearance. Olsen made several good saves and his distribution was really good so deserves praise for his performance. Good point in the end phew :) UTV

Digne played well and was our best player I agree, Olsen looked confident & assured so helps in the lead up to the Semi on Thursday. Carlos was dreadful, as was Luiz. Rogers was also terrible. Decision making was slow, dwelling on the ball, giving it away in tight areas etc. However his finish was class, so he still needs to improve his overall game to adapt to this level. Everyone else just looked tired and you can tell we are crawling to the finish line. Played poorly but Chelsea were fantastic. Despite going 2-0 up, I am more than happy with a point. If Spurs lose or draw today, we are still in pole position for 4th. Finishing minimum 5th is a great achievement but cannot let it alter the main mission, to get champions league qualification. Great summary, UTV!

Once we got ahead we withdrew into a defensive shell and I think we got that wrong. We are not strong enough to hold on to a 2-0 lead, we’ve shown that against Manure, Brentford et al. We needed to play our normal game, we had no control on the ball.

Yes Spurs may bulk up there goal difference against Sheffield United and Burnley but subsequently they it could potentially take a battering against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and City...Keep tickingis key . There's some teams that just have your number. We've had Arsenal's number this season. Chelsea have kind of had ours (Newcastle too), certainly through the two VP games. To be honest, were it not for the red in the Stamford Bridge game, Chelsea would have virtually dominated all three games. I don't know if its a system vs system, or tactical where for whatever reason some teams just seem to get the rub against others or suit playing certain teams. A big part obviously though was performance and energy levels. I actually half expected us to be more like this in the Bournemouth game having come off a European tie, but we just seemed hungover from last week. Delayed reaction. We were second to virtually every loose ball. McGinn and Rogers played well but everyone else looked jaded and off the pace (Dougie especially). I'd have taken four points from Bournemouth and Chelsea given fixtures and injuries. Big shout out to Olsen. In fairness to Robin, he's not really let us down this season when he's come in, and yet he still gets absolutely battered online by fans. The guy has pulled off a Martinez special to gain us a point at the end there. He wasn't even that bad with his feet today either and he can't do anything about some of the giveaways and suicide passes. One from Carlos near the end was astonishing. He was very composed with everything he did yesterday. But it's a shame that some folk can't give him credit when he deserves it. It's just one of those games I suppose, but hopefully, we sharpen up for Palace and Brighton and bring our A game for Liverpool. I think if we get to 70-71 points it'll probably be enough. It may just give Spurs too much to do as they've got awful fixtures. If Spurs make up a 7 point gap and pip us to 4th then fair play, you'd have to tip your cap. This is Unai though, so I'm sure we'll see a reaction in the next game. We rarely drop below our levels back to back.

If Tottenham faill to win midweek v Chelsea, we will be even bigger favs for top 4 finish. Same applies if they fail to beat Liverpool at the weekend. Brighton is a must not lose game for us, draw would be OK as long as Spurs don't win both their next two games.

Some questions for you Luke. Is Rogers staying in the team ahead of JJ? If so, do we sell JJ? In your opinion- Is Diaby going to get to Bailey levels? How do you feel about our injury list this year? When we have Mings, Beundia, Bailey, Kamara etc back where do they fit in the current team? Where are we building in the close season? Big rumors about Frimpong, and Nedeljovic will be coming in to the side, but also we have had someone come in on a free the last few seasons, so who do you reckon will be next seasons free? Diaby is NOT the player we signed! - play either him or Bailey but not together - Chelsea are a strong team and we did well to take a point they outplayed us - we’ll scrape through because of Spurs run in and we’ll benefit from it - can’t wait to get started with ALL our squad fit Villa for top 2 next season and CL UTV

Amazing to definitely be top 5. Top 4 though please. For me I'd rather be in the conference league again than the Europa League. People saying pressure on Spurs need to remember they will probably get six points of the gap back v Burnley n Shef Utd (plus boost their goal difference) so it’s realistically a one point gap now. Ref Olsen it’s nothing personal but the facts are that when he plays we almost always concede 2-3 goals (some of which isn’t his fault as the defence is not as confident when he plays). Added to this fatigue, Tielemans likely gone now, Bailey injury affecting his game?, Diaby out of form, and our remaining fixtures I don’t see where the next point comes from let alone getting past Olympiacos. It’s just realism not pessimism.

Arguably the worst home performance of the season but as you have rightly said the points tick over, 7 points clear with Spurs losing to Arsenal, and they have Chelsea on Thursday and that will be tough with Chelsea really needing to get a Conference League place. Probably couldn't pick a better away game in Brighton next but it's getting worrying with all our injuries...the media never mention this but we have half our potential first team out and so light in midfield plus Dougie Luiz playing way below his normal levels recently

I disagree, Olsen came rushing out towards the ball. Carlos saw him and had to change his mind as he was going to pass it back to him. If Olsen stayed in his position then Carlos would have just laid it back to him. That was a mistake from Olsen. Yes Carlos could have dealt with it better but he wouldn't have had to do that if Owen just held his position.

Whenever Villa seem to get a good lead they always seem to throw it away, however it is very difficult to give any kind of stick to this team. I am just watching Spurs v Arsenal and it's currently 0-3 that gives us 7 point lead and as it stands eight goal better off than Spurs. If anyone would have said that the lowest place Villa will finish this season is FIFTH I would have said they had taken to many drugs. But i truly believe Villa will get forth. Spurs have to many difficult fixtures remaining and can't see them overhauling us. UTV.

I actually don't think we got lucky with the lead at half time. Newcastle only had 30% ood possession in their 4-0. We limited the real clear chances to Chelsea and vroke their press several times and got real good oppurtunities in behind. Martinez and Tielmans i juries changed the game. We completely lossed confidence in our passing around the press (especially after first Chelsea goal) and then just started going long, which just comoletely pinned us back.

It’s in our hands now Luke 🙏🙏…. I kind of think Chelsea have our number 😆… but we got a point and it’s a point closer to Champions league .
