Dear Donna, I can't tell you how much I enjoy your tutes! I have admired your work since I started claying in the 90s and imagined you as an austere perfectionist with a pristine work space where "schmutz" or mistakes never happen! And here you are, happily humming and singing, dealing with schmutz and cat hair just like me! Truly a delight! While I still see you as a goddess of polymer clay it's so wonderful to see you are human as well! And I mean this in the best way 👍✌️💓 (p.s. I was a tomboy as well and as a child in the 50s and 60s I used to make all kinds of wonders with plasticine clay so when I discovered polymer clay I was ecstatic!)

I am a mess! LOL. I'm used to it. I know there must be those who are driven nuts by my casual relationship with schmutz but I figure I can't beat it so I might as well hum along and let it be! I played with Play Doh, remember Play Doh? It was the most frustrating material but as a kid, it was fine. Making things and playing sports. It was a pretty nice childhood, I think. Have a wonderful new year! Big hugs, D

@DonnaKatoArt I do remember play doh and I can still recall the smell and how it tasted salty! Lol! (I didn't really eat it just tasted with the tip of my tongue) When I was 7 I discovered plasticine in multicolored packs at my local five and dime that I would save up my weekly quarter allowance to buy (boy, am I dating myself or what! Lol) and that started me with the claying bug! I wish the best for you in the new year as well and look forward to your next videos ✌️❤️

I love these pods. I've been thinking about making a small vase with something other than traditional flowers so this idea has sparked my enthusiasm. Isn't it funny how you don't always appreciate how much you have grown a skill. A while ago the idea of making a vase would have been beyond me but now I am confident I can do that but the challenge is what to fill it with. Thank you Donna

I love your rings! They r truly like wearing little works of art! They r beautiful and colorful and wonderfully unique. Thank u for sharing another tutorial. I also try not to work with white on a regular bases bc the same thing happens to me! I couldn’t keep white clay clean if I were working in a totally immaculate area wearing a space suit and gloves! I have happened to find thou that cotton buds and alcohol have helped me clean up white clay on more than a few projects! Thank u again and I hope u have a very safe and happy New Year! ❤

Happy New Year! So glad you like the rings, hope you make lots of them! The rubber ring band makes it very simple, that's a good thing! I tend to avoid white whenever I can! Maybe this year, I will be better? Nah, probably not but it'll be fun, anyway! Big hugs, D

Donna, I started watching polymer clay tutorials to see if I could cross over some techniques to making Japanese tea ceremony deserts.... Nerikiri Wagashi. And I've watch a ton of videos over the last couple of weeks full of Skinner blends and reducing and sheeting.... You pretty much made a polymer clay Nerikiri Wagashi--move for move. If you haven't seen them before to gotta look it up. You'll be amazed!

Yup, drawer pulls, cool! I'm getting some Apoxie in, I haven't worked with it, might try drawer pulls, you know the area around the screw would be the epoxy, the clay around that. I think it'd be stronger that way. We shall see! Hugs, D

I absolutely love watching you work! Thank you so much for sharing you amazing talent! FYI the super glue… Inside that chunky blue plastic case is a regular size tube of super glue! Once you can’t get anymore out with the case still on, take apart the plastic case and get the rest of the glue out of the tube.

I have to admit in the beginning where you said something about practicality , i was thinking. look at the size of the *garlic top* you are making i think the practicality went right out hte window LOL * in the nicest possibly way* . I love the way you sing and hum and talk to yourself when you work. DOINK is my favourite word an di find myself saying it when i do things LOL . I could never keep my room clean either growing up. I wasn't a tomboy but i didnt really play with dolls either. so Watching you with the work area you have i like to think mine wil be jsut liek that too LOL. What you not going to use white again .. hmm there could be a challenge to that. When i get stuck into starting my polymer clay journey soon. I was thinking hm maybe get to pasta machines one just didicated to white and the other for the other colours. Maybe one day hehehe. Love you and your work and when ever i see a video upload such a huge smile to my face appears . Hope you had a brilliant Happy New Year. Much love from Australia.
@DonnaKatoArt
@DonnaKatoArt 10 ай бұрын
LOL! I don't make much that is really practical, Selene. I think it's because I so rarely go out. I live in the mountains, I spend most of my time in my studio sooo, I sort of live in my own world and practical takes on a different definition! If that makes any sense. You know, I tried the two pasta machine thing but I found my lazy self not wanting to get up and go to the white machine - lazy! Doink! Have a wonderful New Year in beautiful Australia. I love Australia! Big hugs, D

Hi! The cord I'm using is hollow but you could also use solid. Yes, there are quality differences. I use inexpensive cord but I seriously should look into buying Nitryl cord - it's more stable, I think. Rubber dries out, but that Nitryl stuff doesn't seem to.
