I think JG Ballard’s The Drowned World, a post apocalyptic novel where global warming causes the most of the Earth to be uninhabitable, warrants a mention here. I read that book a couple of years ago and it absolutely blew me away.

It's 2021 and I'm here listening to you talk about how possible it would be for an air- borne disease to wreak havoc on humans. At least COVID 19 doesn't have a 90% mortality rate.

Fortunately for Australia, it was already mostly inhabitable on the fringes of the coast.

I've read a good chunk of these but not all of them. Canticle for Leibowitz is my favorite of the bunch- I'll have to check out some of the others.

Love this list! I'm curious, have you read Warday by Strieber and Kunetka? It was one of my favorite reads last year and I thought the epistolary-esque style worked well.

Nice list. Surprised you could leave off Harlan Ellison’s A Boy and His Dog. I would have warned people that Stirling’s series gets much, much worse as it goes on. But the first three books are excellent.

Thanks for these recommendations! Would you recommend the entire SM Stirling Change series? I believe it is 15 books total.

How does he fit the big, gnarly pit bull on his Harley? Dies the Fire had a tv show, I think it was called Revolution. The first season wasn't bad, it got cancelled after season 2.

The pit bull - Excalibur - is SO gnarly that he fits himself onto the Harley!

What do you think about the term "apocalyptic?" I prefer catastrophic.
