NPCs and engaging storylines yes, but to be fair consequences for actions depends on the subgenre. Anybody that thinks Bethesda itself had anything whatsoever to do with either that god damn bag or Nuka Dark clearly has no idea how marketing and production works. Let me ask you the question I've asked hundreds of times since November; do you think they have Todd Howard locked in a closet somewhere with a sewing machine? Bethesda makes games. That's it. And contrary to what people think their involvement with either the bag or whatever else begins and ends with signing a check to a third party. And speaking from experience those third parties WILL fuck you over and there is NOTHING you can do about it. You can't "quality control" somebody else's business, and you can't spend all your time in a warehouse individually checking the contents of every box before they ship. Sooner or later you're just going to have to trust that the "professionals" you paid to produce your ancillary product aren't going to fuck you over. And the culture of big corporations fucking over their customers for short term profit or out of apathy doesn't go away just because said customer happens to be another corporation. They can be and should only be blamed for the content on the disc. That is all they are actively involved in. The CONTENT on the disc. Not the bag, not the rum, not the case, not the booklet, not even the disc itself; just the ones and zeros. Period. If there is a problem with literally anything else then guess what; Bethesda got screwed over with that well before you did, and probably didn't even know about it until the complaints hit twitter. Bethesda didn't screw you over; that was just a side effect of some third party screwing THEM over.

@Warmaker015 жыл бұрын
I was one of those dudes that got FO76. Day one even. Matter of fact, I was one of those dumbfucks that bought the higher priced edition from the Bethesda store. The game had a lot wrong. Regarding the lack of NPCs it's quite jarring. FO1, 2, 3, New Vegas, and 4. They all got NPCs. They were all part of the charm that help make the setting, even in FO1. FO76 was strange because we got mountain loads of Raiders all over the place and not a single holdout of friendlier NPCs. Everything is hostile, there is no Good & Bad because everyone out there is Bad, i.e. "Red is Dead" and you need to kill it. Map design for FO76 I felt was nice, but the world was dead. Even if you get a cluster of players to work together and build a community, you can't. Not the way the servers, the game works. *It's not persistent.* There's lots of other things wrong, but this stuff is just the tip of the iceberg. The only relief was getting a refund, but I had to do it via the financial institution because Betheseda was refusing it because "I downloaded the game" from their fucking store.

I think the pain as Jim rightly pointed out here was that it wasn't that 'we have no way to contact/connect with these players' it was the blatantly obvious fact that they were bemoaning that they have no way to milk these players playing something they already released and get jealous/angry at other companies who rake in millions doing this and they wanted some of that while having no ability to do so. You know what Todd? There is a way to do this. It's called STORY BASED DLC. You know Far Harbour? Nuka World? I mean sure those sort of things have love hate relationships with some people but I'd rather have it. But no, like many people he wants the easy low effort, lazy route. Which they don't have the base ability to do. I'm so done with live services at the cost of single player, even from the few who do them to a relatively acceptable level. I know this an older video, but I just had to say: the reason this game was truly as much of a dumpster fire as it turned out to be is entirely due to the fact that it did not have the support of the modding community, a community that Bethesda, as much as they loathe its existence, has relied on time and time again to repair the broken messes they continue to shell out.
