A Practical Guide to Understanding and Configuring Envoy Filters - Peter Jausovec, Solo.io
One of the powers of Envoy comes from its extensibility through numerous filters. Configuring these filters is often seen as complex, involving a lot of trial and error, and time-consuming, especially seen from the service mesh users' perspective. Even though a large set of Envoy functionality is implemented with high-level abstractions, the users sometimes have to resort to a more advanced EnvoyFilter resource.
While this resource offers great power, it comes with challenges. It is often difficult to figure out how to correctly configure it, and the key to mastery lies in understanding Envoy's underlying configuration.
