It was such a profoundly dynamic thought given while expounding upon the deeper applications of Paul's prayer. I'm referring to when Pastor Lutzer said, "Imagine a church representing Christ in the temporal sphere, bringing down from heaven the glories of heaven to a world with such deep need." I think we may often think of the church immediately following Pentecost when God's Spirit was poured out upon and within the early believers; how powerfully their lives must have reflected the glories of Christ. Although I am a cessationist, at least in some regards, I believe we as the church can and should be making much more of an impact. Just think what Spirit empowered love, combined with the deep desire to glorify our Lord Jesus, added to true knowledge (epignosis) can do in way of accomplishing this goal. Let's stir up the Spirit of love and knowledge within our hearts and congregations first, then we will be better prepared to impact the world outside the church with the glories of heaven.
