It’s not 30 years. Maybe five years. My parents applied to come to Australia and the US. It didn’t take long. We came to the US, then got a green card. About five years later we applied for US citizenship.

Ask her real questions in the interview, instead of reporting on her story that you can't independently verify anyway, and then injecting an unnecessary adjective about a route that seems to be so unfitting based on the look of the many millions who took it safely and survived without a problem.

It's a tough situation but you gotta say no at some point. The mayor of Reynosa Mexico said he won't take any more migrants either. They built a shelter and gave them healthcare but their funds and space ran out. He said he could only help 900 and the rest gotta go. It looks like US needs to do the same. Either we are pro labor or pro open border but we can't have both. When the border was shut down for COVID wages went up. It's time to show tough love. This wave of people is causing a lot of problems. Cartels are getting stronger and bolder (they make 5-10k off each person), that's helping to cause an arms race between Cartel De Noreste, Gulf Cartel and CJNG were they are literally killing each other with tanks. (That's right I said Tanks). You also have a gender disparity where men outnumber women. Not to mention the brain drain in the countries of origin.
