My grandmother was born in 1936 and was living in Rosebud at the time. I remember asking her years ago if she could recollect any memories of the 'Waco Tornado'. She couldn't remember anything specific but did recall stories of seeing more traffic (of people) the following weeks. I may see about taking grandma to the Texas Collection archives to find anything that could jog her memory. 🧐

My aunt and uncle lived in Waco when this event happened. My uncle, Homer Pumphrey, was pastor of the First United Methodisr Church. I remember how worried my mother was when she and dad saw it on the news. My aunt, Rebecca Pumphrey, was her sister. It was a few days before she could call and tell us they were safe.

During the ghost walk tour a woman named Mary can be encountered next to the Alico building who supposedly died in the dental clinic there.
