We focus so much on the antagonistic posture of the secular world towards our faith. We obsess about the many battles we have to face with a culture that is inimical to the teachings of the Gospels. Yet, in our zeal to engage in these wars with external agents, we never stop to realize that the biggest enemy, and the cause of so many people leaving Catholicism, and Christianity in general, is the complacency that accompanies being a big institutional religion. Father David's excellent homily provides a cautionary message to guard against being content with just showing up and going through the motions. We must recapture the revolutionary zeal that as the heart of Christ's mission.

Father David's story abouy the robotic statement of many Protestants (paraphrased): "I used to be a super Catholic better than Padre Pio, but figured it all out and became Protestant," is arrogant and ridiculous, but can also be applied to all Catholics who water down their Faith down to casual. You only get all of God when you give all to God, especially when it becomes hard to do.

I love how this Gospel reading comes weeks before the Bethany siblings' feast day on July 29. Martha, Mary and Lazarus knew our Lord very intimately as a friend, but also knew who He really was as Lord and God. Martha confessed it with her words, Mary with her attention and anointing, and Lazarus with being raised from dead and the Lord wept for him too, showing His deep love for him.

Seek out the testimony of other converts like Scott Hahn or Stephen Ray. I don't see it on KZbin, but Ray has a Lighthouse Catholic Media talk called, "Finding the Fullness of the Faith" which I found really helpful. Hahn has more than I could possibly list, but this talk from Brant Pitre really opened by eyes to the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmWYc3t6h6Zqprc I will be praying for you. I converted over 20 years ago when I was 21 years old. There is so much depth to the Catholic Faith that it can seem over whelming, but just take it as God gives it to you. I would also highly recommend going to a Traditional Latin Mass. God Bless.

It's so sad that people stopped praying the rosary, but from everyone who tells that same exact story, what I hear most is that they think of it as a trivial formulaic thing. They don't even know the mysteries or even that you're supposed to meditate on something. That grandma who prayed the rosary every night, bless her, but I'm afraid she failed at the most important job she had. She failed at passing down the faith, if she even ever had it herself at all.

I live in Ireland probably the most secular country in the world now but even here i think that people are starting do see through the modern world.
