A Primer on Nepenthes

My favorite group of carnivores, and yet...somehow, I've never done a video on them! These plants are the ones that truly push the limits of carnivorous plants, both in size and prey types they can manage, and come in more shapes and colors than you can imagine!

Treat seeds as you would the adult plants.

That would, frankly, be a rather boring video. They don't move, most of what I feed them is fertilizer pellets, and when it is something else it takes weeks to break anything down and it's not noticeable unless the pitcher is disturbed. I grow them for their appearances, not for carnivore action.

Do you fertilize? I’ve been fertilizing my nepenthes with Maxsea. I put 5 mL maxi fertilizer in each of my pictchers twice a month

Plants may occasionally get fertilizer pellets or dead insects, juvenile plants too small to get a pellet may be given liquid fertilizer, but it's not frequent.
