In this video I am rolling with Gil again. I recently found out he lived nearby. I mistakenly thought he was a blue belt in our first video! You can find that here.

Sir. I really appreciate you taking the time to produce these videos. Im a big guy. Im 53. Im a white belt. Ive been training for five months. Your videos are a constant reminder to relax and be efficient. You're a wonderful ambassador of the art. You've shown me that i dont have to be explosive, dynamic, and powerful all the time. Why? Because that guy reminds me of myself. Panting, breathing, and literally ready to pass out. Thank you for sharing.

Wow this is truly great to hear! Thank you for appreciating my videos! You are truly absorbing what I have been trying to convey! Thank you for that sir. Try and never be breathing with your mouth open after a roll. It is an incredible feeling to fend someone off and not be breathing heavy!

I’m a big strong guy. New white belt. Coach got on me since the beginning to slow down and be mindful. I see myself in this guy and understand a little better.

The point is to develop skill and put yourself into a position of self cultivation. You are better person today than the day you started! If we all kept score we would all quit. lol.

Hey, love your videos! You’re very skilful and even as an untrained eye can see you’re allowing the guy to work, well played! Also I have made comments on how practical bjj in real world situations and sometimes lightly negative about it, however this video was a excellent demonstration just how useful bjj is, against a stronger untrained guy you made it look almost effortless in I’d say restraining this guy rather then fighting him , it was a great lesson for the guy rolling with you and for me watching realising how useful this material art is, I know it has its down sides like any other martial art I.e if theirs anything but one opponent this ain’t working but on a 1 on 1 without weapons this is fantastic at restraining without causing huge damage if you choose not too. Man you’re great! If you ever move to the U.K. il pay for lessons lol

Matt this is so great to hear! You are spot on in every way and very observant! I began martial arts with striking. Kung fu, kickboxing and mma. So I understand how people view bjj. Yet it it very effective and like you said I don’t have to really hurt anybody. I have many subscribers from the UK so I may make a trip one of these days. Thank you for commenting and coming around on bjj

Thanks for the reply! If you ever do come to U.K. I know it every well as I travel a lot in my camper, yes you could do all the big tourist places, but in my opinion the Lake District, windemere which has its tourists and ullswater which has much less are gems of the U.K. if you like beautiful scenery, nice coffee shops ect, it’s unique in every way, their are some great hidden treasures in Scotland too loch lommand is cool too. Take care

I have been able to implement a lot of the things you talk about with less skilled people, but I need more strategies for dealing with higher belts, i.e. when nothing works. Yes, I realize that I'm doing things less than perfect, but what? If you could point out how you are thinking with those people more skilled than you.
@Jitsover50
@Jitsover50 2 ай бұрын
When we first learn techniques they always work best on less skilled people. Then we sharpen them against increasing resistance from higher level partners. As for rolling with people more skilled. I usually work on my defense. Since it is easy for them to put me on the defensive. So no matter who I am practicing with I am learning.
