I signed up for TBR based on the video and have just got my first recommendations. Like Jean I’m in Scotland, so went for the digital options. I am delighted with what my bibliologist Amanda has picked. Really really excited to read them all. I honestly just said “Wow!” when I saw the selection. So so far extremely positive impressions for me. Thanks for doing the video Jean!

Ooooh I really hope you get to Plain Bad Heroines soon!! It's the one and only book I've given five stars to this year so far, and I agree with Emily, based on what I've seen of your taste I definitely think you're going to love it. I literally cannot praise that book enough!

Thanks again for telling us about TBR Jean. I treated myself to a year’s digital sub. My first quarterly recs in July were all great reads. I’ve just been emailed my second bunch and am over the moon again! All new to me, all look like I’ll enjoy them a lot. A mix of fiction (folklore/fantasy and 1930s Singapore whodunnit) and non fiction (celebratory essays about lots of different gender identities). So yup, delighted, and thanks again!

I've seen Dating Dr. Dil around. Sounds like a fun one. Glad they recommended books you enjoyed. What a great way to add new books to your TBR.

This service sounds so cool and I'd consider signing up if I didn't have hundreds of unread books in my house. Speaking of book recommendations, based on yours, for Tea Dragon Society, I got the first book and read it to my daughter. We got books 2 and 3 from the library, read book 2 over the weekend, and are midway through book 3. We both love the series, so thank you for mentioning them. I will get all of K O'Neill's books for my daughter since she loves the Tea Dragons, but also because the characters are so diverse. Best of luck with your PhD. I have dermatillomania too (as well as periodic struggles with trichotillomania) and stress, nervousness, and PMS are the worst triggers for it. I just wanted to offer some moral support.

I loved Plain Bad Heroines. It's long and rambles and switches back and forth through time lines but I didn't care because I just loved whatever the author wanted to do with the story. Glad you had such a good experience with this sponsor. As for your stress - sending a hug and a cuppa.

This old bibliophile recommends for you: The Alchemaster's Apprentice and The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers, The Custard Protocol by Gail Carriger, Across the Journey River (I forgot the author's name), Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat, A Case of Curiosities by Alan Kurzweil, and Ramses the Damned by Anne Rice.
@zeideerskine34622 жыл бұрын
I might add Portuguese Irregular Verbs by Alexander McCall Smith and To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis.
@zeideerskine34622 жыл бұрын
Oops, that was to be Along the Journey River by Carole Latour or something like that. It's a Native American whodunit and surprise lesbian romance. I may also recommend To to and the Lone Ranger Fistfight in Heaven and Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie. Once a Greek (German original title Grieche Sucht Griechin) by Friedrich Dürrenmatt May also be up your street.

I didn't even get all the way through this video before pausing to sign up to 'TBR'! Can't wait for my recommendations! Girls Can Kiss Now sounds like a book I'd really enjoy. Just yesterday I was clearing out some old magazines that I was still holding onto for some reason, and as I was having one last flip-through before recycling them, I came across a few mentions of Lindsay Lohan dating Samantha Ronson and was really disturbed. It wasn't, like, hateful, but it was objectifying and portraying it as something she was doing just to be edgy and get attention. Judgements that like that certainly had an impact on me as a young teen. The fear of being labelled as an 'attention seeker' was one of the things that held me back from even daring to consider the possibility that I was bisexual until I was in my early twenties.

So I went to purchase your book on Amazon and I purchased thru a third party vendor and I got scammed they sent me Robert Graves Greek Myths. I love books I almost feel bad for returning a book that will get thrown away. Alas lesson learned, don't purchase books from Hippo books on Amazon. My children were equally disappointed when I showed them what I ordered and what I received.
