Currently stuck at orange ranks and feeling overwhelmed and demoralized with trying to understand and apply hwaorang's pressure from your video. Getting punished by reds and oranges for trying to figure out how to use these new tools makes it difficult not to revert to old habits, especially with how powerless hwaorang feels when on the defensive.

This video was excellent, I enjoyed the section when you were talking about the mentality with gameplay. Tekken is a guessing game like you said, and using the same thing over and over is bad and I've never really thought about it but I observe lots of opponents online that just do the same strings over and over thinking it'll work on me. I always make sure to mix things up and keep opponents guessing myself, I like to use the low pressure mixup string then give them Hwoarang's launcher and 75 damage combo when they're conditioned to leave neutral open for me.

I’ve been stuck in reds for 3 months 😅 I partly blame the fact I’m old and have arthritis and carpel tunnel but not blocking slow lows, throw counters you are speaking to me. I’ve chose to learn other characters and push them all into orange and then reds. My defence has already gone from 30s to 60.

This is very helpful, would be great if you provided written transcript or notes so we can reference in training. Very hard to remember otherwise. Also would be good to teach in chunks for beginners like me, shorter videos, just give enough for someone to get started playing. Best pokes, a few strings, basic punish, and 1 or 2 easy bnbs. Then layer on more in future vids. I appreciate all the effort but it’s a lot of information! Cheers, liked and subbed.

it sounded like you were reading off some notes, you could just upload them to pastebin or google docs so people can have a written reference. it's a lot easier to have that open on a second monitor/phone than skipping around a video while in training. just my 2 cents tho@@swankygamez69420

What movements would you recommend when an opponent throws and spam punches which pushes you backwards when blocked? Like Dragunov, or Brian, I am having trouble getting out of these situations cause players like this, usually spam these movements waiting for me to throw something to launch a combo, not even 1+2 appears to work, I am shinryu but I can't make it out of there...

Honestly, the best thing is when you become firmiliar with the attack, find a solution whether it be side stepping or maybe a quick low poke or something & then when they throw it out just keep trying, honestly at the end of the day experience is annoyingly the best teacher, just don’t rush if you’re at shinryu you’re doing good, maybe just take a step back n see where you need to improve

I couldn’t fully understand on my first watch how good this video was, bc of my lack of tekken and hwo knowledge, but this video is a bloody godsend! Quick question… do you play claw or do you hold your controller normally? I’ve spent a lot of time holding it normally because I play a lot of other games but I realise people like kwiss play claw. Would you recommend learning claw or is holding the pad normally fine in the long run? I would imagine it makes tekken inputs a lot easier on controller if you play claw but that would be another thing to learn xD

You have to let go of F when you hit 3. Go into Flamingo & just hold forward, hold it for as long as you feel comfortable, & then when you’re ready let go of f, hit 3, n hold f again & just do that over & over again until you’re comfortable doing it.

53:50 at the end of the example combo, you finish with [34forward into forward44]- why dont you instead do [344 into forward44] and let the additional 4 hit instead of just canceling the 34 into the flamingo stance? how i understand this is that you just get an extra safe hit in this way. pls correct me if im wrong. ps: very good stuff, im kinda studying how to play hwoarang and seeing what kinda options and moves i have and your videos help me a ton, very deep into the matter and insightful

If you know it’s coming, yeah especially u4 since it’s just a little faster but if I genuinely think a low is coming I like to go for uf3+4f, or u3+4 so if I’m right I can really either do some damage or get right up on them to start my pressure

He’s a side character that could be a shonen Main character like Naruto, imo. Yeah his rivalry with Jin is a little strong, but if you pay attention every single instance Jin is involved Hwoarang only wants to beat him at his best & even in the story after he loses to Jin, he’s trying to pep talk him n says “it looks like you’ve been saddled with a weird-ass power Jin Kazama… still, that’s just another part of you” & in 7 in either Jin or Hwoarang’s story Hwoarang saves Jin from a grenade. Why wouldn’t I love a character like that?
