I just ditched my Carrack as the long range explorer for the Polaris. Yes it's a military ship, but It just works better and for me it's design makes more sense. Which makes sense because it's not JUST a warship. It's more militia/patrol ship like coast guard or policing. It's super versatile with the hangar, ground bay, etc... so it's made to work on search and rescue, relief missions, etc. Not just combat. Those tools make it excellent for exploring, unlike a "dedicated" combat vessel for example the Hammerhead. I plan on using it more on non-combat missions in that "support" role because it has so much flexibility. It does make a good "flagship" or "base" as people have said. That may change a big when the ironclad or liberator or kraken comes around, but even then it'll still be very useful since it's just a good, practical design. Not only does the Polaris hold vehicles, but it can rearm/repair/refuel them too (unlike the 890 and Carrack as far as I know)

Ya, I would like to see if you feel the same way after about 3-4 weeks after 4.0 drops. The Polaris is nice and all but I predict it will be too expensive to maintain for exploration purposes. The Use Case for the Polaris is to control a sector or location by projecting power and dominance and to provide fire support to control that area over time. They should be used as a strategic asset. But hey, it's game and you can do what you like with your ship. Good luck out there. I just hope they hurry up and continue to update the Carrack's pods and not let us wait 3-4 years util they do so. Also, they should update the Port and Starboard turrets to quads. Then the defense would be adequate since we have no pilot controlled weapons.

To save time and not have to worry about people sneaking aboard your ship while loading it, you can just do all the loading inside your extra large hanger. Spawn all the vehicles you want to load one by one in the hanger. Just move every single vehicle off to the sides of the hanger bay that doesn't drop down. Then spawn the Polaris and load the vehicles parked off to the side. Probably won't work for something large like a Vulture but the majority of things that fit in the polaris can easily be parked on the sides of the extra large hanger.

Great video Foxy!! Very useful info. The Polaris IS the best ship/home base in the game. The haters don’t have a Polaris. “But but but the repair cost!!” It’s giving broke boy. “But but but you can randomly die in this game!” The Polaris has a medbay dummy. “STOP HAVING FUN WITH A SHIP I CAN’T AFFORD!!!” 😅😅😅

Foxy, this is a ton of prep time for a game where death can happen through no fault of your own. And Pyro is a cesspool that makes Grim Hex look like a 5-Star Hotel. Don't see the reason anyone wants to go there. I'm just saying.

agreeded. recently loaded up a Cutty Med with an 8 scu box that i filled with fps gear (took foreever cause of new item bank i can't drag drop) only to lose everything cause my teammate didnt have the commarry mission that i shared 8 times and double checked with him to confirm that he had the mission 3 times. "yes yes i have the mission" ... they why did the comm array kill us!

Some people actually like pvp ship combat and Im excited people who share that interest get a place to do it without consequences. Plus Pyro will have more risk reward opportunities for mining and commodities compared to stanton.

@dracoflame8780 you can drag and drop. Double, click on the 8 SCU box When it's on the freight elevator. Then you can just transfer everything into that box. I just learned this the other day too, so don't feel too bad. It hasn't been super widely publicized. But it does work

I usually load my ships and vics in my hangar. First thing I do is get all my travel requirements on the apron and the load it.

Honestly you should of brought a Vulture in the hangar bay and some of the hand held salvage/repair tool. the vulture can scrape quicky and then make the canisters you need to repair. Something you will want with CIG upping the repair cost of everything.

Foxy, I did something similar with my Carrack. Everything was great until my ship exploded out of nowhere where and all the time and money spent supplying the Carrack went away in seconds from the explosion. I took a deep sigh and called it quits in a silent protest for about 3weeks 😂

Carrack is 100% better than Polaris for a explorer ship. You don't need all the ships you have there in the hanger, and the Carrack is just faster and more effeceint for a solo player

I’m so sick of people talking the Polaris as a daily driver. No one should be an able to solo a ship of this size. It’s very immersion breaking for me. Looking forward to engineering coming, hopefully sooner rather than later. Also looking forward to learning each ships weak points that cause fires so that I can aim my inferno right at that spot. If you don’t have an engineer, you burn.

Exploration with a warship? I don't even know why CIG is wasting their time with anything outside of combat with players like this in the game. If it doesn't have size 20 torpedoes or a hangar bay for 20 tanks or twenty size 60 guns, they will always deem it to be worthless, and therefore, never use it or recommend it. 😂
