What's weird is the proximity fuse on the Scimitar is wider than the explosion radius, so on a very fast server it can prematurely go off and not hit the target at all. (You can check this on spviewer, proximity is not on erkul for some reason). I think this is more likely to happen when the relative velocity is lower (i.e. the missile is chasing from behind).

On todays episode we sre going over the intentionally nerfed ground Missile AA platform to boost Centurion sales. All jokes aside, i do agree that AA defense should be an umbrella of multiple assets. Thing is as a SAM i feel most of the things that make SAM systems deadly (Patriot, S400, etc) just aren't modeled in SC. I feel the radars on the ballista should be in a class of their own. While i can hear someone saying "John, all modern systems use a dedicated radar vehicle." We do not have datalink in SC to facilitate using separate vehicles. With the lock, and detect range the ballista can see out to being much higher not only does it come in handy for preventing stealth assaults, and coordinating air assets. But it could pin down enemy air units with long range locks.

Almost all of the Alien ships need gold standard updates which will also bring a rebalance.... They'll probably go on sale and be the best at whatever they do at that time as well.

I would entertain the idea of the Cutty Black also potentially being used as a dropship. It has enough room for a squad of 6 on Dragonflies, meaning it can deploy at a distance or perform a rolling deployment. Additionally, you have another 6 jump seats if you want to relegate some people on foot, maybe you're bolstering a friendly defensive position. Unlike the Steel, the Black doesn't have the door guns to comfortably provide fire suppression, but the Dragonfly can be used to harry the enemy before dismounting and the Black itself can hold off the odd fighter.

I don't think it is a good mechanic that AI doesn't respond in any way to attacks when it can't get a radar lock... I assume the AI will be upgraded to at least react defensively.

Fuel capacity is meaningless without knowing the fuel consumption. And comparing stealth capabilities without stealth components and heat suppression is stupid and the Firebird is not the stealthiest ship either.

I am pretty sure the Firebird HP info is wrong. It literally evaporates when the shields are down.

You like stealth and lows emissions Cpt_Foxyloxy it seems- the secret low emission ship is the humble and cheap Aurora LX. Personally the Firebird has its place but its another niche ship CIG keep making and as you showed it not a cap ship killer. They should make it fire 12 missiles at once so it will be a great ship to kill medium ships up close with sleepy pilots.

The Firebird as an absolute beast. I would almost go on saying, with its insane acceleration to get out of trouble, its decent agility, stealth, six missiles launched, it is one the few ships in game that could possibly successfully challenge the F7A. In the proper hands this ship is deadly.

Neither the Talon nor the Shrike variant really match up with their descriptions or lore. As far as the Shrike vs the Firebird goes, the Firebird outdoes it completely in the current state of play. The Talon Shrike is a Light Fighter platform whereas the Firebird is based on a Medium Fighter platform and these platform differences aren't really shown in their current forms. I'm hoping CIG will review both platforms, as it seems illogical for a medium stealth fighter to offer better stealth than a light

Firebird has bigger size 3 weapons but can't dogfight near as good compared to the shrike. Even thought it has 2 size 2 guns. Don't forget the Talon is supposed to be stealth and have special shields that absorb 100% of ballistics too. But thats not been implemented. Along with mutli target missile launches.

Vanguard with energy cannon MVSA (if i am correct) and M7A on nose is perfect pair. Probably not great vs players tho if not can hit a target. But if hit it lot of alpha dmg. I actually did destroy a hammerhead with my vanguard with this energy cannon set up. But it takes long lol. I felt the ballistic cannons were not great. Especially cause of ammo limit.

also, always try to fire missiles at the cockpit, the 5.5m aoe with a strike class missile can pilot kill

That reload bug is annoying. Almost cost me my life several times. One workaround I have found is to use alt-1 for ammo repooling. It takes a bit depending on how many magazines you have stored in your backpack but it should allow you to successfully reload after that.

If, or when, they ever finalize combat; dedicated missile ships like this should have special equipment to make their missiles more accurate versus a basic gun fighter that tosses a missile or two.

So you're saying the new ship that CIG wants to sell is better in _almost every way_ than the older missile ship? I'm shocked. 😏 Power creep much? 😆 Especially when comparing the claim timer and cost. The smaller ship takes longer and costs more; which I found very surprising. The Shrike's only advantage seems to be better agility. But that seems fairly pointless because you're not supposed to be dogfighting with a missile platform. Now for the gun toting Talon, it's better. But until they fix the way it goes wildly out of control when you lose a wing... I don't want to get shot when flying either Talon.
