Had many a "leaving do" in that pub. I used to train new police recruits at what used to be HMS Ganges at Shotley Gate. This pub was a favourite for the different intakes to celebrate leaving! I must go back sometime.

Another great video Freddie. May I make a suggestion for one of your upcoming videos. We always here the odd word from your camera lady, and occasionally even see here in the shot. Seeing as you are visiting Monica’s homeland. How about trading places with her and you video Monica telling us about her hometown and upbringing. Just an idea. Looking forward to your next videos.

Why are Sunday mornings so special - because they begin sitting out on the screened porch listening to the sounds of nature with a jug of coffee and a new video from Freddie and Monica. There is something about the pace and content of your videos that makes them exceptional and to me they are ‘lifestyle videos’ with a strong motoring content rather than ‘motorcycle videos’ with a touch of lifestyle. To me you provide an combination of eccentric nostalgia and youthful enthusiasm that makes for absolutely irresistible content. Like a few others, I would love to see some vignettes from Monica, particularly as you head to her homeland. Looking forward to the upcoming Jawa & Lada content - hard to believe I actually said that in 2022!

I just want to let you know out of all the motovloggers I have watched to learn and enjoy watching, which include Teapotone, Royal Jordanian.. Your channel is by far the best.. I really like your vintage vibes as I'm into the same taste. Monica is such a great girlfriend in helping you making the channel great. I love how enthusiastic you are with you passion in the clothing and bikes and how you express and explain everything. If there is ever a fan meet i'd 💯 want to get to meet you and give you a high five for your great work. I get alot of enjoyment watching your vids. Keep it up and high five for Monica for her great assistance. The vids very well made and great choice of suitable music chosen. 🍻

An A40 was quite "upmarket" for a small car - hence the red leather and Italian styling. Used to be one down the road where I grew up. They had a holiday cottage overlooking Conway castle - so pretty classy.

A40 Farina in British Racing Green was my first car from age 15-19 in New Zealand. Top crushing speed 47mph. Would overheat at 50. Tip downhill speed with wind behind 72. Carried my whole band including my drums, sheep manure, you name it. Was wonderful.

The Cub is on an "R" suffix registration dating it from 01/08/76 - 31/07/77. My Dad had a 1962 A40 Farina in red with a black roof. His, and most others had a drop down boot lid, a bit like a "London" taxi, but a few, known as the Countryman also had a lift up rear screen, making it into a hatchback a good 10-15 years before anyone else.

The red "leather" in the A40 is actually a kind of vinyl, I had the same in my first car, an Austin Cambridge. It was actually just as good as leather, tough, wipeable, and fine in hot or cold weather. Although not as cute-looking as the Austin A30 & 35 the A40 Farina (the name credited its stylist) was a big step forward towards the modern super-mini and hatchback. Drove a Lada Niva extensively in the late 80s/early 90s. As clever as a Range Rover for a fraction of the cost. Fantastic off-road due to light weight combined with excellent axle articulation and a reduction gearbox if you needed it. Possibly the greatest car to emerge from the East although there are a few other claimants - particularly from Czechoslovakia. The Niva is still made today although very few make it into the UK. Good luck to you & Monika on your travels.

You' re a great antidote to the common philosophy that new is always better in every way. BTW My old man was a driving instructor who had a few A40s. First car I ever drove. Spent many a happy hour; 7-10yrs old, sitting in the back whilst he was working on a Saturday, making comments like " Dad, shouldn't we be in 3rd gear now?" Imagine that today?!!! Love a lot of the cars you notice, but especially, love the A40. Brilliant!! Brought back memories, put a smile on my face!

Hi Freddy, great video as always, fantastic scenery and great pub, also what a great choice in drinks, one of my favourites!! I have to comment on your looking forward to riding the Jawa motorcycle! Being quite a lot older than you a friend of mine had the CZ version he bought new in the late 1970’s He bought one cause they were a lot cheaper than the equivalent Japanese bike!! It was the worst motorcycle, I have ever ridden!! The seat is basically as comfortable as sitting on a plank of wood, covered in vinyl, It leave a great plume of blue smoke as you power away, as it’s a two stroke! It’s doesn’t handle and the brakes are inadequate! It would get a less experienced rider into a lot of trouble very quickly!! Don’t want to put you off or burst your bubble. Just thought pre-armed is fore warned!!! Happy travels to you both.

The ale in the Butt & Oyster looked bery drinkable. What is the origin of the pub name? Like how Monika was excited about the yellow Lada! But I learned on a Vauxhall Chevette which the Lada might have slightly transcended. I'm sure you'll both have fun in Lithuania and if you get your hands on a Jawa 350 that will be interesting.
