I REALLY hope that you are well paid for this, because _man!_ This is some _serious_ hard work. I don't think people realize just how backbreaking and utterly exhausting it is to scrub something of this size by hand. And yes, the acid helps greatly, but there is still a considerable amount of elbow grease involved. A person would need to be in excellent physical shape to do a good job. (Which you OBVIOUSLY are!)

Caution wasn't a top priority here. Don't ever attempt on your own, in case you are overcome by the fumes. Also, you should be mixing with a base to neutralize the acid before pumping it out.

I'd assume it's probably muriatic acid, if you're still curious.

Muriatic is Hydrochloric, depends where you come from. Only thing is you don't want to use it often. It eats at the lime in concrete and grouts and makes it honeycomb and brittle over time. But a spring clean like this once every few years shouldn't be a problem.
