This is helpful for those of us that only heard stories of DrachenFest US. I'm excited experience it myself and hope to see more content like this

Great explanation of the differences in combat! This will be a huge help in explaining to our new recruits what to expect at DF. Thanks Rob! Also, I'm glad other people saw that fight during the final battle! Haha. It felt so epic, but I wasn't sure if anyone else saw it. 😁

I like this, because I played that game and I'll agree with all of what you said. I played to fight in character, which is why I carried a single dagger (a character-appropriate choice of weapon, not an effective one) against swords. I knew I'd lose a fair technical fight, which is the idea of number two in the form of number one. But then, my character isn't one that gets into fair fights... let's just say, there's room for a type 3.

Hey rob, which swords are you guys using in this video? I'm looking around at different options, and the ones you guys are using at around 3:15 look fantastic!

I love the theatrical style combat idea! I've only played Dag and Amtgard and while I appreciate the skill it takes to be a good fighter once you start taking the fighting seriously it just doesnt look epic or fantastic anymore.

Yeah DFUS has a pretty rules light system as compared to the sort of mental image of LARP, or Nero based systems where its kinda just math in the woods. It's definitely closer to Amtgard in terms of where your health pool will be at versus Dag where you have 1-2 hits without armor at most.
