Good stuff. Horrible cold easterly on the west coast yesterday, but a cracking mixed hatch of March Bowns and LDO's made fro a really good rise, unexpectedly!. Great to cast to rising fish again, tight lines buddy.

awesome. i might head out to the west coast hill lochs that I know fish even when its shitey weather if the rivers wont behave themselves.

Hi, I've been lucky enough to fish a local burn in Fife that wasn't too high, caught a few on Spider Patterns but the River Leven has been sky high since day one of the season. All the best🎣

Nice one. Ive been look at bigger rivers, hoping that theyve not been flooded but everywhere looks the same for now. bollocks to it.

Hi Chris, as ever, great to see your wee film appear in my list. I was out the week before, there was a three hour patch where it was actually warmish enough for some fly life! I caught a fish right at the tail of the grotto pool on a wee mallard and claret, but it wasn’t big enough for me to unclip the net. I hooked another about the same size earlier about 50yds up from the Cramond Brig on a nymph, but it was off in a couple of seconds. The river had colour, but not too much or too high. WoL next week, it opened yesterday.
@thetattooedangler9 ай бұрын
nice. ive been watching the WoL for a week or two. it doesnt get washed out as often as the almond, and it looks fishable from dean village to pilrig. well, it did before the rain last night.

Nice to get the waders wet and free up the casting arm. No chance of us getting out yet as the water is still too high to access safely. It will be interesting to see just what all this water has done to our beats.

aye, i skipped a few pools today because I cant see whats lurking under the surface. nothing helpful I'll warrant.

Like most of UK rivers, very tough going! Every March I turn out "just because", against my own advice! I would think the streamer lure tight to marginal slacks could probably get a fish in those conditions, but as you say the proper fly fishing will be better towards the end of April. Good to see you out again, anyway, tight lines!👍

Might be another week or 2 of still water fishing. Btw Guideline switch rods are brilliant. I have been using a Laxa 7/8 wt.

usually theyre out of my price range, but I got a good deal on an ex-display rod, so I couldnt pass it up. got a reel to go with it, then found out that its been discontinued, so I cant find a spare spool.

Well done for getting out, you are a braver man than I! More of the same shit here today, cold NE wind, no sun and now it's pissing down again. Spent the day power washing my back yard! Man that was cold! 😁 No sign of better weather in the forecast either. I like the look of your new glass rod. Amazon?
@thetattooedangler9 ай бұрын
Aye, just as I gave up, the drizzle started. By the time I got home it was pissing it down, and still is. It's put the kybosh on my plans for fishing one of the 3 T's later in the week. The rod feels like it's going to be a lot of fun. I bought it direct from maxcatch. It took two weeks to come, no problem in the close season, but it was about £20 cheaper than amazon. The only issue I have it that there's no groove or whatever it's called in the reel seat, so you have to kinda jam it in and tighten as much as you can.

Bought a permit for the Crammond angling club what’s a good height on the monitoring gauge to fish the water ? Came through once but was too high / coloured . Cheers
@thetattooedangler9 ай бұрын
just below 0.5 is best from the railway bridge down to soggy arse and the pines. 0.5 - 0.7 from the old brig down to the ladders below the weir. the tide doesnt make too much difference to the water level above the ladders, but the fish wont run unless its somewhere around the .7 mark
