Nice build, you could split the exit of clean water to fill a pipe that will go back in the reservoir as the pre-fill, this way you do not have to rely on an external source of clean water.
@gamermy26675 жыл бұрын
if you place another reservior set up but a half cycle later you can do the dubble amount with the same pump an same 2 sieves
@SkyeStorme5 жыл бұрын

@daszveroboy5 жыл бұрын
@@SkyeStorme great setup, i have been using a germ sensor which requires plastic, so i can't disinfect my water in early game. This is great and i can probably run 3 "shifts" with a single pump/2 sieves. 4 is not that optimized because the water needs probably around 30% of the time to sit in the reservoir and disinfect, so you are left with 69% of the time to pump water in and out per shift (34% to pump water per shift or 3 shifts per water pump)
@UndoubtablySo5 жыл бұрын
Food Poisoning in chlorine is something like 360% dead per cycle (you can check this ingame) so that means something like only 27% of time needs to be allocated for quarantine if my math is correct Also to expand this build instead of adding more seives its probably better to just add some reservoirs for storing the clean germy water therefore allowing the sieves to run all day
@Ibian6664 жыл бұрын
I have an even better system. One less clock, one less valve, the germs die before the polluted water hits the filter so the resulting polluted dirt will not be germy either, and there is no need to prime anything. Should get started on that let's play guide I have been thinking of doing...
@taggedJC5 жыл бұрын
You can avoid having to prime it with fresh water by building the Liquid Reservoir on top of a Mechanized Airlock. When the airlock is opened, the Liquid Reservoir is disabled so it doesn't output, but it can still have liquids piped into it. This prevents the germy Water from entering the pipe. Then, before it's complely full, turn off the germy Water input. Once it's ready to be emptied, simply close the Mechanized Airlock and it'll start outputting again.
@vakalkas4 жыл бұрын
why the hell does an airlock prevent it from outputting? eh

Thats very cool. I really want to see someone make in this game different BIOMES: Like 1: chlorine biome 3 levels - plant farm for chlorine, second- chlorine ranch, third - the disinfectant system and hook it all up to a chlorine vent. 2: like a hidrogen biome - with all sort of things farms , ranches, fishes , hidrogen power plant 3: like an co2 biome and so on.... It would be really beautifull and you can make them all selfsufficient and regulated. Food for thought. Love the video

Worth testing what happens if the output backs up. I haven't tested this, but I think it's possible that you could hit an edge case where the reservoir is full of water and so you have 20kg of germy water stuck in the input not being purified. Then when the purge cycle starts that will enter the reservoir and reinfect the lot of it. Easy to avoid by adding backup detection to the output, but worth considering the edge case
@septimustavi93525 жыл бұрын
I can think of a situation where you would scale this up...it's when, like me, you have a polluted germ infested geyser near your base. Fortunately I have plenty of Chlorine near the geyser, and I already placed the pump and pipes and power for the pump. Only down side is that the geyser is in an ice biome, so I need to send it to be heated first.

Annnnnd there is a second such geyser almost directly above the first one...such a massive supply of dirty, germy water :O

Could you remove the clean water input by leaving a small amount of clean water in the reservoir after the clean cycle? Just reduce the amount of time on the 3rd timer so there is always a small amount of clean water left in the output pipe? Edit: I just realised this will only work if you know there will be a constant supply of germy water into the reservoir. Otherwise it can't be guaranteed there would be leftover clean water at the end of the cycle.
@SkyeStorme5 жыл бұрын
Correct :)
@vakalkas4 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking you could do a small loop around/feed back with a water bridge that takes preference in the tubes. So that a small amount will be readied to go in, once the valves switch around again.

So the point of this isn't to flush the input, it's to put a clean water buffer in the output because the germs don't die in the pipe. Is there a way to turn off the output of a reservoir automatically, without having to use a pipe & valve attached to it? Because it seems like you could make this even simpler if you could hook up a timer to the reservoir directly.

Hmm... mine isn't working. Does the chlorine room need to be a certain dimension? I have a small-ish 5x11 (interior dimension) room with only chlorine gas, over 1kg per "square" of pure chlorine, and yet the water in my liquid reservoir reduces its germ count very slowly. What am I doing wrong? I've triple checked the timers - they're all set right. And, my food-poisoned water only has about 300k germs in it at the start of a cycle, and about 290k after the cycle is done.

or you can just install a door under the tank. Open the door. No liquid comes out all germs stay in and get destroyed. No priming needed. Have multiple tanks on rotation. If you need 10K/s there's no time to wait on water to get cleaned. Even better way. Send all germ polluted water to reed fiber. Your gonna need it later. Need about 10tons of reed fiber to get started on insulation and it takes for ever to make. How do you get more water you ask. look around the map. There's enough water on the map in pockets to last you 200-400 cycles depending on dupe count. Probably around 15 dupes. After you've digged out all the water or a lot. Start working on an industrial brick. Have your ore refinement plastic production oil refinment. Industrial stuff. Oil to petroleum to power. Petroleum boiler turns petro into power, clean polluted water and co2. Co2 goes down to slicksters to make more oil. PWater to water to O2.

I have a massive slime biome around 95% of my base. Within the biome though I have a chlorine vent at 60deg. Is it worth just opening it up and letting the gas flood the area?
@zynreqxzqx23975 жыл бұрын
Why not put a mechanized airlock underneath the reservoir? If it's open, the reservoir can't output any liquid. Thus no need for the extra priming step, and the output step (that 'to make sure, only germ free water gets output' - since nothing can get out in the first place). It would even be two tiles smaller (you need to accommodate the extra tile of height though, but here it's not a problem). The airlock shouldn't destroy gas, since it can 'escape' into the tiles of the room. Or does it?

Last video. Why are you cooling your hydrogen? It exists only to be burnt for power and destroyed. Contain all that heat in a 8x9 insulated tile box and send the hydrogen to a generator to get destroyed instantly deleting that heat away. Send your water up through the o2 preccoling it while your water goes into the Electrolyzer instantly deleting the heat. Take the pre cooled O2 which will probably be around 40-50c and send through a cold biome to cool off. Also if you use a smart battery and bridge mechanics. 1 hydrogen generator can run 2 elecrolyzers 2 pumps pulling o2 1 for random H and a liquid pump with leftover to use that power for the base. Have another setup running the same but have it power the water sieve cleaning the water. With leftover going to base. Or you can run 3 o2 pumps still with leftover.
