Good tutorial for new players. To avoid having water spills when removing the initial setup water intake, simply shut off the pump or when building the set up add a bridge. When destroying the bridge no water will spill. Also you can use plumbers to empty pipes if you have dupes with that skill. Can you do one on automation and setting priorities for the different parts. I still don't get that working properly.

My favorite bathrooms are simply Backdoor(one way), Lavatori x2, space x2(Granite big statue), Shower 2x, Space for statue, Sinks 2x then door out. Add a few lamps and paintings and you will easially reach max decor + a 100% applied "lit workspace" morale bonus. Then I instead build more then one 4x16 toilet facility if I think I need it At the opposite side of the main base, incase someone must relieve himself and comes from the other end of the world. Combine it with a blossom farm below it(adjusted pipe warmth for perfect crops and trought auto watering tiles) and you also get "smelled flowers morale buff". Then you also save alot of piping since you can run the auto watering system for the plants and the bathrooms on the same pipeline since Blossoms acctually kill germs. The only issue as I see it are that you need to pump in some extra water into the system, which ain't hard if you make fertilizer anyways. By running four scheduels you can fit 4x4=16 dupes on only two advanced toilets(not outhouses, I just do 4x outhouses 4 sinks untill I upgrade).

@magnuscarlsson99695 жыл бұрын
@@AdamRotering Well to be fair the showers there for the +morale. Showers only deal with food poisoning surface germs, while the sink deals with any germ type at the same efficiency. The best is afterall the disinfector, but it's also quite expensive, but removes 2x the germs of a sink. Tbh the only reason why I bother with the whole "toilet" idea are because of the water since I truly loathe mealwood...

Putting in multiple water tanks and filling that room with chlorine works really well for cleaning the germs and eventually siphoning off the excess clean water. Put the door into the ceiling and the chlorine won't get out. You may want a germ sensor later to be sure, but the germs are cleaned within a cycle
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
Yep I’ve used a chlorine room to get rid of germs before. I only make the effort if I need to though. For example if I want to use the water for food. Most uses for water the germs don’t matter

5:54 Correct me if I'm wrong. This loop will eventually back up and stop flowing? There is more waste water produced in this system, so inevitably you'll end up have to change to sending the clean-water back to a reservoir.
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
Yes I described that, and that’s why we built the overflow system using the pipe bridge :)
@Hedning13905 жыл бұрын
You don't need a liquid bridge before the sieve. The white tile on the sieve works exactly the same as the one on the bridge. Yes, the sieve can't take a full pipe, but look at how toilets output, you will never have a full pipe on any normal sized bathroom unless you purposefully stack the water up.

Just use another liquid bridge for priming the loop. Those can be deconstructed without spillage. As of the last update, the sieve does not add temperature to the liquid so if there is no shower (which adds heat) attached to the loop you don´t need insulation anymore.
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
Yep the bridge would avoid spilling :)

I don't know if this was changed or not but, I like to have a reservoir in the same room as the decontaminator to act as a buffer. I then fill this room with chlorine to kill all the germs in the resevoir. It's a little extra work but it requires no extra fuel but allows you to use the water for anything with no risk of contamination.
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
Yep you can decontaminate that way too. I generally only bother getting rid of the germs if the dupes are going to be cooking with the water :)
@Spoonwood5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! I enjoyed it! Instead of having the initial injection for the system come from the water supply, I prefer to use the polluted water that the duplicants have been making when using outhouses. It doesn't involve the soggy feet effect (which mainly concerns me because of the time it takes for a duplicant to kick off of their feet), and gets rid of the polluted water that outhouses have made. I make a small pit for a pump. I put a bottle emptier over it. Then I set it to 'polluted water'. Then the pump sends the polluted water directly to the sieve, instead of the bridge. The bridge then I'll use within the loop from the bathroom and sink polluted water, or as the output of the sieve water if I say want to water bristle blossoms. And since there's no polluted water sitting in that small tank (2x2 has seemed sufficient in my experience) after just a few cycles, I can deconstruct and there's no need for mopping also.
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
The outhouses don't make polluted water, but you'd get some from the wash basins, so yep that's another way to get your initial water. Definitely more than one way to tackle each problem, which is a large part of what makes this a great game :)

If you reduce the number of toilets to 2 and use efficient scheduling, you might be able to make infinite clean water; by reducing the strain on the Sieve, you can instead backlog the clean water side and dump the excess into an electrolyzer for oxygen and hydrogen. If done as efficiently as possible, you might even be able to make all this self sufficient with the hydrogen generator to power the sieve and auto filler, seeing as how the H.G stores more energy than it uses, and the auto filler/sieve might not always be running.

making a closed loop is a good hint. also before piping in liquids from pockets check if are contaminated or not. maybe 2 main reservoire one for contaminated liquids, and one for clear liquids (polluted or not water also). ! thing i noticed is that if i use a liquid reservoire in a room rich of oxygen, hydrogen or clorine the germs are going down. dunno if gases are sort of consumed in the process. but helped me to fix a disease :D. @CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
The benefit of this setup is you don’t have to worry about water. The water just stays in the loop to be reused over and over and you won’t deplete it accidentally. There’s definitely more than one to approach everything in this game though :)

Sometimes polluted water is useful as a coolant or for certain plants. I generally put the bridge on the polluted side to save sand until I have a use for the clean water
@Jay-vp3kk5 жыл бұрын
Why don't you put the tank after the siv so that you are simply storing the clean water and use it as a buffer. That way the system is closed and you don't need to do any additional steps of adding water (which is currently removed from the loop in this version) or deal with sending/cleaning the polluted water you are currently sending to the tank?
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын

@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
It’s not the “wrong” side. As I said in the video you can put it on either side depending on whether you want clean or polluted water. I often tend to use the runoff for things like arbor trees that need polluted water. Which side you put the bridge on is dependent on what you need/want.

My whole colony was infected with germs cos of this. How to avoid?
@CrypticFoxGaming3 жыл бұрын
I've never had germ problems with this system. Unless they changed something they haven't changed in years. If you're concerned though, have your system pass the water through a liquid storage container inside of a room filled with chlorine gas and it'll kill the germs.

Are you 100% positive that it's not a problem that the dups wash themselves with germy water?

100%. I do this in my stream colonies all the time :)

@@CrypticFoxGaming Cool... And I wasted hours killing germs in polluted water via gas, flowing it over to a sieve, cooling the water down in an ice biom to let it flow into my freshwater tank, if I could've just done that with isolated pipes.........

Yep. Only cool and de-germ water when you need to. Germs in the water only matter if it's being used to cook :)

this doesn't work, the bathroom water goes straight to the resivoir and completely ignores the bridge
@CrypticFoxGaming4 жыл бұрын
Is your bridge backwards? I use this method in all of my bathroom setups so it definitely works, though its hard to help troubleshoot if I can't see :)

I dont effin understand why this bridge makes a difference. I made a fork without bridge but with shut off valve and all water goes there instead, I hate it, this thing is stupid :((((
@CrypticFoxGaming5 жыл бұрын
The bridge is programmed with a specific priority. Any pipe feeding water into the bridge prioritizes going through the bridge unless it can't. It won't take another path there unless the water simply can't go through the bridge, and that's what makes it useful for this kind of overflow. Any other place where you split a pipe the packets of water will alternate between the directions, so with 1 split, half the water will go one way, and half the other. With a 3 way split you'll get 33% in each etc.
@mephi5t05 жыл бұрын
@@CrypticFoxGaming thanks, I guess the arrow on the bridge make it more vivid. After I placed it it was more usable. I had to redo it a few times because it was flowing in wrong directions. Before this video I had manual shut off valves and those dumbos had to run there and toggle it time to time when overflow happened :D Thanks for the updated video! I should probably play more on debug mode. Otherwise I am under stress that they all die and puke to death :)

This doesn’t work because u have nothing purifying the water. It’s full of germs, aka this set up will make them sick. Does anyone have an actual bathroom tutorial pls??
@CrypticFoxGaming4 жыл бұрын
You're quick to judge without trying it ;) I've used this setup for thousands of cycles. The germs in the system don't affect the duplicants. The water only needs to be purified if you're intending to make food with it.
@SparklyMarshmellow624 жыл бұрын
CrypticFox and you’re wrong lmao. I did try it and they all got sick because it doesn’t remove germs. Clearly you haven’t played the game in a couple years lmfao. How about try playing in 2020 and get back to me bud.
@CrypticFoxGaming4 жыл бұрын
The last stream I had of the game was May 2020 and it was a non-issue. It wasn't that long ago. If you want to clean the germs though, add a liquid storage container into the loop in it's own enclosed room and fill the room with chlorine gas. The gas will kill the germs when the water enters the tank.
@SparklyMarshmellow624 жыл бұрын
CrypticFox yeah, I’m aware. It’s crazy how you have this many followers/views though when you clearly know nothing about the game. Literally google water sieve on ONI’s website. It turns polluted water to pure water but it does NOT remove germs. By washing their hands with germy water they get sick. Period.
@CrypticFoxGaming4 жыл бұрын
The germs in the water don't matter. The sink will still clean the duplicants hands. Your dupicants are getting sick for another reason. Maybe you have too few sinks and they aren't all washing, maybe the duplicant you have preparing the food is germy and contaminating the food, maybe they're breathing in slimelung or something. I've used this setup for a bathroom for thousands of cycles and they ALWAYS get clean. But do what you like since you're so convinced of your superiority. Better yet, go look up another tutorial genius since you're still figuring out the basics of the game for yourself.
