Fun fact: There's a (frankly pretty boring) short on the Mawdrywn Undead DVD called Liberty Hall where the Brig is interviewed about his various encounters with the Doctor, and the events of Minuet In Hell are among them. Of course, it's incredibly obvious that it's the only audio adventure referenced, since it's the only anecdote that doesn't feature visual flashbacks. But it's just kinda neat that even in BF's early days they were getting that sort of recognition as a continuation of the show.

Does anyone sometimes mix up voice actors in their head while listening to Big Finish and then get themselves confused on who is supposed to be talking?

I've listened to all of the Eighth Doctors Audios currently out except for Charlotte Pollard the Further Adventuress. And thats just because I'm waiting to have the available funds to buy it. But even though I've listened through them all it's fun to watch your guide and follow along. Excited for the future installments of this series.

woah Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds was my gateway into the audio medium too! My dad used to play it to me as a child and the creepy narration in that thing terrified me more than anything in a visual medium ever could

I don't know how many times I played that record. And the illustrations are beautifully creepy. I remember being entranced by them staring at them for hours

It was mine too, my dad told me it as a bed time story and he never finished it. He got to the field and stopped. But then I watched the Blu-Ray and had nightmares. War of the Worlds has given me too nightmares

My biggest gripe about Minuet in Hell is how the whole story just feels beneath the Doctor’s pay grade. Minor spoilers: Literally the minute he gets his memory back, the Doctor resolves the entire plot within 20 minutes, which makes the previous three parts feel like a waste of time, as though the writers knew they had to find some way of artificially padding it out.

It was the eighth doctor that got me into Big Finish. Always been a DW fan but never gave the audios a chance but recently enjoyed Doctor Who: Redacted on a whim and found they have loads of the old Audio Dramas on Spotify so I'm catching up fast! I don't know if it's recommended or not but I started with Blood of the Daleks and enjoyed it!

I bought the majority of Big Finish 8th Doctor stories as he did not get a fair chance, the movie was crap (bloody Spielberg!), but the small features around the War Doctor showed how great he was. They still should make an 8th Doctor series without the elements of modern story telling i.e. The Message and all the other shit. Listened to Minuet in time today whilst coming back from my PET scan.

A massive stretch of space filled with destroyed ships wasn't remotely an original idea when sword of orion did it, new who hardly stole from BF.

happening to come across a ship filled with functional cybermen was what i was getting at. Later on theres also clockwork robots stealing human parts to repair themselves, and the idea of preventing someones death causing the destruction of the universe. the former appeared in new who twice, and the latter was in the season 9 finale hell bent. I dont think new who are stealing ideas, its more that they share writers and they pull from the same pool of ideas. its inevitable that there will be a similar trope or story here and there, its just fun to point it out. I dont know if i need to point this out but my videos arent meant to be taken that seriously. theyre largely tongue and cheek. Im dead serious about hell bent though. they carved massive chunks off neverland for that one.

My main beef with the audios is unlike radio dramas it's sometimes hard to picture what is going on because they don't describe what's happening sometimes. It's more like watching a tv episode with the video off. They are still great but it just makes me wish they would animate them. Half the work all the audio is done.
