My wife, who knows I’m an enthusiastic follower of Mr.McPhail, recently commented ‘ how much more fly tying stuff do you really need darling? ‘ …particularly since I bought you the coffee grinder etc…I just showed her this video …’ oh, still a long way to go yet then sweetheart ‘ was her response 😂 thanks for all your great tying and fishing videos …all the best for this season

Never has the old saying, "If these walls could talk", had more meaning in regards to fly tying. You sir have forgotten more than I will ever know. What a great ambassador for the craft and the sport of fly fishing. Thank you Davie for inviting us into your laboratory!

What a wonderful fly tying room and collection of materials and tools, in my honest opinion you are one of the best fly tiers in the business, thank you for sharing this with us Davie, 👌🏽🏴

You have an incredible set-up, and the amount of fly tying materials is unbelievable. I watch all of Kelly Galloup’s videos, and he did a tour of his set-up, and you have more materials then he does. And he owns a fly shop lol. I consider you and Charley Craven to be the two most technical tiers on KZbin. Thanks for sharing your gift.

It's like a candy store for adults!! Must be nice to go to tie a fly and have everything you need. Usually if I want to tie a pattern I'm running to the store to buy half the materials. Get home tie a dozen or so then on to the next pattern and back to the store... Beautiful!!

Thanks for doing this for us, it helps others to see how you've chosen to do your set-up. Lots of ideas. You and your son did a good job with the bespoke cabinetry! I like the wrap-around desk and how you've arranged the room around it so things are within easy reach. Seems like you could put your hands on anything you need straight away. Thanks for letting us into your home!

Your videos are always superlative, and the opportunity to see your working environment is an inspiration. Thank you for offering this intimate look into the space where you perform your craft. As I think any maker knows, the mastery of tools and materials and techniques can only come when one has crafted a space that will foster creativity and efficiency - that can only happen when there is an order imposed on all of those aforementioned elements. The fact that you have incorporated the technology possible with computation and 4K videography into this ancient craft is a gift to all of us who learn from your films.

Storage is always a challenge! I've changed my storage more often than I probably should and each time I think I've finally done it perfectly, I realize I have still not got there yet!! Recently I purchased some nice cabinets from a school science lab and they look great! I felt lined the inside of the drawers and stocked them up, I added mothball pkgs to keep beetles out. I'm hoping it is finally enough! Thank you for this privilege Davie, such a great thing room!!

Wow , I could spend a lifetime looking at just the materials. What a wonderful area you have created . Wish I could live another 100 years just to use materials and tie flies. I am 80 and of course bragging, but the more I tie the more I want to learn and I have only been at it about 35 or so years and learn something new every time I set down at my Norvise System which I have had for a little over 10 years. I love all you videos and actually have a folder with just links to your videos and several other tiers. Best of 2022 to you and your family. Hope your grandson is doing well, haven't seen any videos he has done in a while. I think he discovered girls and they messed him up a little, they will do that. Have a great and blessed day Jeff

Nice , looking at other tiers set ups fascinates me . I’ve been tying 32 years now and have gone through the complete metamorphosis and have ended up ( so far ) like you , tubs and stackable containers for my materials . I still can remember years ago going into Walmart with my wife and we were looking for for some household goods and I walked into the isle with tubs and containers, it was life changing. Great idea on the pillow on the back of your chair . Books are like yours , a story un to themselves. Thanks for the tour .

Hey Davie..... This peek into your tying world didn’t surprise me at all. Until we took in the scope with regard to your materials stock..... well, it’s no small wonder when I want to tie along that nearly every time I don’t have the materials I need! OMG! I understand that you’ve been doing this for many years but..... 😳😳😳! I live on my own and can allocate the space how I like but then I’d have to collect LOTS more stock to justify it! lol Thank you so much for sharing your tying area with us. Super cool. 😊😊😊

Davie, when your comb needs replacement you could try a Lice Comb. I bought a Lice Comb a few years ago and mounted it on a piece of wood that swings up and down in front of my tying bench. My camera is set up in front of me so it is out of my way and viewers can see what I’m tying. When I’m using the Lice Comb I swing it up so my viewers can watch me set it in place. Clean out the under fur, clean out the comb and then swing it back out of the way. If works out great. Best regards, Richard in the Catskill’s, NY.
