My wide field rig is no good for planetary imaging, but I did use it to do this a year or two ago. After all, how else can I say I used my telescope to take a photo of Uranus?

I don't care how immature anyone thinks I am, Uranus jokes/puns are all funny and will never get old. Also it's actually very easy to photograph the ring around Uranus with a small hand held mirror.

I once saw it visually in my 200mm old Bushnell Criterion cassegrain, from my backyard in Montreal. I don't remember the magnification but it was just a tiny disk, kind of blue/green! Not a big deal but it is fun to be able to say that I saw it!

Gday Dylan I went out last month and went looking for Uranus with my 8” dob and like you I had never seen Any thing past Saturn and I was very happy to have found it visually it took me a hour or so of scanning the sky to find the tiny disc(as I don’t have a goTo) but that is definitely an achievement in its self haha.. grate shot you got of it and love the content.

Hi, Dylan! Nicely done ) If Uranus still holds the distance record you should try Eris - probably the farthest solar system object that could be taken with amateur equipment. An easy mag18 for your gear. Yes, it looks just as another star, but hey - it's distance record ) And for an absolute distance record - try Andromeda's parachute, a mag16 grav-lensed quasar 12 GLy away,. These are my personal distance records with 200mm newt.
