A quick ride out in my local hills - I'm a cyclist and I live in the Pennines

It's November and time to get wrapped up people. Here's a short video from a ride out in my local hills where the plan was to meet Mike and Andy at a regular spot for a sandwich and a coffee.
With high speed descending, social banter and a narration of the ride, I hope this gives you an insight into cycling in Pennines.
It's that good up here that the Tour of Britain came over this way couple of years ago.

Awesome as always. I've just watched your latest 3 cycling videos back to back (I can't get KZbin notifications to work), so it's been a great evening of viewing. Thank you sir.

Thank you so much for the binge watching session lol. I am trying my best to make these videos as informative as possible and have spent a couple of hours on the Glasson Dock video this evening. They average about 2 hours of thought and editing for 1 minutes worth of viewable footage, it's bonkers !

Don't get me wrong Mark, it's an incentive to keep us all going throughout the year and especially at Christmas and I can honestly say it was a proper challenge to do that kind of mileage in extremely cold conditions. I was proud of myself for that very reason in 2020. In the middle of summer it's a piece of cake. Having said that I don't do Zwift either so class my self as a proper bike rider. I even commute to work every day in all weathers

Always nice to get a short loop in Daz. Totally agree on the Rapha 500 being outdoors, sadly it’s not a challenge conducive to having 2 young kids as I have. 😩 I’ve been getting my little 26” hybrid out for a bit of gravel riding today. It’s a heavy bike with 47mm tyres on so perfect for building up the legs. As for power meters, the only one I’ve got is the one that sits in a cupboard in my living room telling me how much electricity I’ve used!

Fair point John about the 500, I just get a bee in my bonnet about Zwift and how people can accumulate well over 20+ miles in an evening session well under the hour during December , yet when out on the road they can't hit them kind of figures. When I'm out on a cold winter's ride it takes over an hour n' half to do somewhere near 19 miles. I personally believe my mileage is earned through grit and determination. But on the other hand there is a place for turbo trainers and Zwift rides because they extend people's season and offer a different perspective to cycling and training . The gravel bike will keep you fit too pal, I bet the fatter tyres are comfy also.

Thanks again NOM/\ It's all about keeping the story flowing with what I filmed. I tried the seperate audio recorder and mic on a different setting today but on some of the takes it mustn't have recorded because I had my gloves on. You can hear the different audio quality on some clips. The GoPro has very poor audio.

You should set up another channel cycling.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I should Professor but it would mean starting all over again. I started this channel on a bit of a whim to be honest not knowing anything about how it works, I still don't, but the one thing I have learned is that too many subjects or interests aren't good for a channel to grow. Maybe I should give it a go .

Any advice on gears that determines speed. what gears should I use when attempting to go fast downhill?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 2 жыл бұрын
Ideally a 53 x 39 on the front and a 11x 28 on the back. Therefore 53 x 11 will spin out at 55mph

@@smichelin19 7 gears on the back, 3 chainrings on the front. Likely a 46 tooth largest chainring, spinning out around mid 30's mph (assuming 12 or 11 tooth smallest rear sprocket, 26 inch wheels and 2 inch tyres).

3 x offers a lot of gear choices especially if you are touring or going out on a very hilly route that you know will probably put you in a word of pain 2 x is getting better and better with so many options today. I love a compact set up which is 50 / 34 and 11/32 on the back. You can get up almost anything and have big enough gears to still go quick on the descents .
