Knowing theyre married in real life made this movie so much better for me. The emotions without words are so magnetic. Plus the lack of lines seems to have let the actors focus more on their actual acting not just skill of dialogue

But again, I personally don't want to put a blame entirely on anyone. I especially don't want to call a traumatized kid who saw her brother died in front of her eyes (and probably experiencing survivor guilt) a spoiled brat 🤷🏽‍♀

Plus the sister was feeling guilt and responsibility for her baby brother and the comments made during this watch was just disgusting 😂😂 my only thought was “please don’t have children if you’re gonna call them spoiled brats for being depressed”

You know Reagan (the daughter) is a kid, right? Neither she nor her brother were developmentally able to reliably predict the consequences of their individual actions, let alone their combined actions. Reagan shouldn't have given her brother the toy, he shouldn't have taken the batteries and turned it on, and the parents shouldn't have left the batteries in reach of the children or let any of the kids walk in the back of the line. This is what's called a tragic accident as a result of not being an apex predator anymore.

One of the greatest horror movies ever made, and it was done by FIRST TIME DIRECTOR JOHN KRASINSKI! The most essential part of any horror film is that the audience has to care for the characters, and it’s impossible not to love this family. The absolute standout performance is Millicent Simmonds as Regan. I love that Krasinski actually got a deaf actress to play her, and you can’t help but root for her. And it was also one of the best moviegoing experiences in my life. I remember feeling such unbelievable tension throughout the movie that any time someone in the theater made a sound as quiet as eating popcorn or candy everyone (myself included) would almost death stare at them as if the monsters in the movie would hear us.🤣🤣🤣

There is actually an old saying in my area that you don't move so far from your family that you can't see their fire. It's an old timey Appalachian saying for that exact reason. Before phones that's how people would check up on their loved ones and if they didn't see the fire they would head straight over to make sure everything was alright and they didn't need help.

It was funny at the beginning when the male reactor pretended like he knew sign language. LOL

He wasn't pretending. And why would that be funny if he HAD been pretending?

You should check out a movie called "Buried" with Ryan Reynolds. It's a movie of the times, but it's a movie that only has Ryan Reynolds on the screen. It's a pretty good movie. With an ending that will make you feel a certain way lol.

It’s a movie - in real life no parent would leave the youngest child as the last one in the line in a world like this

This was a great film. But the design of the monsters has technically been done before. There was a British show called primeval, and they portrayed a similar type of creature almost identical except for some head/face details.

The whole family played a part in what happened to the little boy. If the older boy hadn’t gotten sick then the family wouldn’t have gone into town. The whole family didn’t need to go. One parent could have stayed with the kids at home while the other went to get the medicine. Or one parent & the daughter could have gone while the other parent & the boys stayed home. The father could have put the batteries in his pocket or put the batteries & toy up where the child couldn’t reach them. The parents could have put all the kids between them on the walk home. One parent in front & the other last in the line. The mother could have kept the little boy with her. It’s not one persons fault that the boy died. Change just one thing each member of the family did in the chain of events & he would have been ok.

Fun fact: the deaf girl is actually deaf in real life and the cast learned sign language for her.

Did you notice the scene where John forgot where his nose was when trying to shush the old guy? I guess he forgot about his nose surgery.

As much as I love this movie I had the WORST EVER theatre experience because of two idiots seated behind me and a couple who brought their toddler in theatre (who does that?). Every single spoiler was given away by the idiot behind me "look he'll pick up the batteries. see how she will step on the nail." constant narration. The theatre manager despite complaining did not do anything. If you're one of those idiot reading this or if you talk during movies I hope you're never able to enjoy a single movie no matter how great it is.

Best theater experience I’ve had like maybe ever. This movie is sooooo f*ckin good! I think I need to rewatch the 2nd one I watched it at a friends house and she had seen it already but I hadn’t. She loved it and I was like meh it was fine. So maybe I just missed the tension because my friend was there crackin joke and such
