No one person created shoegaze guys it was a chain of events and sounds that made shoegaze the subgenre it is today and it wasn't Even recognized as "Shoegaze" until the new era started coming out and realizing the sound more . Back then to all those bands it was just a cool sounding foggy guitar and that's what they were going for and they made kick ass music to it. Let's just leave it how it is and enjoy allll the music they've left us with and continue to take their influence and expand it and innovate into our own art.

@@paulohayashi2047 Sometimes, like with punk rock, it takes a string of bands to fully create a genre. That happened with shoegaze, only to an extent. Jesus and Mary chain are still the originators. All of their music sounds like shoegaze to me, they were the first. It’s not like the massive leap between the Ramones and sex pistols.

All of you shoegaze fans need to chill out and just enjoy the music. Your "intellectual" arguing shows that you both lack the intelligence to even appreciate the music. You just use it to make yourself look smart. Nobody cares who came first. And nobody cares if one band sounds like another. If you really enjoy the music, then you should leave it at that. If you don't like it, then don't listen to it. You two need to get over yourselves.
