As a bengali it gives me great pleasure when Arijit remembers and speaks about his influences from Bengali Adhunik songs. Though the genre is named Adhunik/Modern, it refers to the era of 50s,60s,70s when it was the golden era of Bengal Movie Industry , a Renaissance period of music and film making and literature, Satyajit Ray winning international awards, hindi film industry remaking bengali movies and songs for ex Bawarchi, Padosan, Chupke Chupke, Ijazzat etc. We have grown up listening to those songs, learning those tunes including Arijit or Shreya Ghosal and that golden era will never come back. He don't show any partiality and proudness in receiving awards........ The awards should be proud that they are going to in his awards list...... In 🇮🇳 Indian history if any one starts describing about music first they will say the names of old composers like tyagaraja..... Then in new era they will must say about ARR sir....... Do you think the songs from the Movie roja, premikula roju, dil se,premikudu, slum dog millionaire etc would ever die? No! how many generations would come , this composer's composition is a milestone in the history of music....... He first came into industry as a keyboard player and then a chance came as composer for a movie "Roja".Through his 1st movie movie it self he won the national film award...after then he won 5 national awards, numerous filmfare awards and great Oscars............... Very good discussion, Rahman sir🙏 Please do some more sessions like this with the legends in music mainly in classical music as they don't get their due like their like their counterparts in film music especially in Bollywood. You can work on this with PT. Mukul Shivaputra, the most talented but thoroughly mystic music legend in both Hindustani and Carnatic classical music in this generation but unfortunately ignored by the music community...his life is a lesson for the younger generation. However, his highly uplifted spiritual mind helped him to come out of the extreme hardships. It would be great if u could explore the life through such sessions... Take care and stay safe , sir.🙏🙏🙏 Aum🙏

Such a pleasure listening to two maestros of music and also jamming actively. The fact that they can do it so well and in realtime, speaks of their hold on music. At the same time so much humility and respect for each other - true role models for this current generation. What I loved the most was a good portion of the discussion was into classical music, exploring raags, the notes/pakads that stand out in a raag, mapping raags to popular film music. At the same time they didn't come off as classical perfectionists - for eg. Rahman exclaimed that the raag Arijit mentioned was Kedar and he had inadvertently used it in his own composition from the past. In a way it introduces music to you in its purest, raw form. Terminologies etc. don't matter then, because you are looking at the emotional connect to the soul. And the fact that these two noble souls can do this time and again is because they have internalized music sub-consciously. They can breathe and live music each day. That each time they touch a musical instrument or start an alaap, they are creating something magical! :) And hence I believe they are also a couple of spiritual and self-actualized souls, who are at peace with them, indifferent to worldly temptations and race.. I just hope they stay the way they are for many more years and continue to give more music to several generations. I also hope Arijit picks up composing seriously (as I know in his heart he is more a composer :) ), so that we will get to see a new dimension of Arijit which will impact us in many ways. The part of this video that I loved the most is when Arijit picks the guitar to jam the Sarangi interlude from Lagaan song (at 23:09 ) - O Rey Chori, the way he picks on the same scale as Rahman started playing the piano and then following it through with the guitar and his vocals is just incredible. Even a shy, soft-spoken Rahman couldn't hold off his praise at that moment. God bless them and thanks for making my day :)
@musicdilsebyprabhu31384 жыл бұрын
Also not to mention the fact that this was in fact Arijit's fan-boy moment with Rahman. I could completely relate to the innocence with which he asked some of the questions about Rahman's way of composing music: - The fact that each of the compositions were like a case study for him - The question he asked about how Rahman transitions from major chord to minor chord in the same compositions (these are the kinda compositions that give me goosebumps when I listen to Rahman's compositions) - The discussion they had about having a completely different chord pattern compared to the underlying raag, in a way having chords with off-notes but yet sounding beautiful, in tune and bringing a different feel to the song. Great discussion. Loved it! :)
@musicdilsebyprabhu31384 жыл бұрын
Also loved the fact that #ARR mentioned about many upcoming singers like Pratibha Singh, Ronkini Gupta and Prateek Kuhad. A great recognition for these upcoming/accomplished stars. In the middle he chuckles that some of the great songs have less than 100 views while a few ordinary ones manage 350 million views. Seen him opening up more in this session than his usual quiet self. Kinda cheeky :)
