My great grandparents came to the us from Hungary as a teen and and 21. My great grandmother learned English, she knew German, and kept speaking Hungarian all her life. My great grandfather never learned after even 60 + years! He relied on his wife, even as a business owner. It takes skillz. Lol

The same happens with us white Latinos too. My mom is from Dominican Republic and my dad is from Brazil. Both are white as hell and still speak no English. My dad speaks only Spanish and Portuguese and my mom speaks Spanish, Creole and French and when I speak Spanish, the Americans look so surprised when I tell them I’m from Dominican Republic 😂. 2 guys were talking ish saying they wanna take me home for sex and when I responded in Spanish they actually ran 😂

I have been there a few times (as an audience member) but the comedy cellar literally is more or less just a cellar. The comedians come on down and then they go back outside or go to the restaurant upstairs. Some comedians drop in unannounced and do unscheduled shows. Also, as an audience member, it was different. The two drink minimum kept me slightly warm.
