I find the sound of rain soothing. I love walking in it provided dressed appropriately. The joy of living in Britain is the seasons. Long summer days, short winter days, long winter nights. It must be boring - honestly - to live in a country with incessant sun and heat.

It says a lot for the freedom we enjoy in our great City, that you can roam the streets and mews in the dark and wet, like some slightly mad tourist and remain free to do so, without fear of being challenged or questioned. People may think it’s odd, but they respect your right to do it. Which enables you to bring us these marvellous videos.

I have a strange question. As an American with access to a large city, I was surprised by all the loud, annoying male shouting in the early part, near Harrods. I think of the British as quiet, sedate people. What was that about? Just asking for information. Beautiful video.
@johnorchin85672 жыл бұрын
@@mt.shasta6097 I wish that were still true! Where have you been for the last 60 years? It certainly can be as you describe, in places - at times, but London doesn’t exist in a time warp, and times have changed not always for the better unfortunately. Quiet and sedate are relative terms. I think as a general rule the British people do speak and act more quietly than the Americans, but not, at all times, all the time.

The atmosphere, scenery and character of London''s nicer parts on a rainy night are beautifully relaxing. But this isn't freezing cold winter. Several can be seen wearing shorts and light clothes, trees all have leaves and flowers are in bloom. The filming looks to have been done between May and September, and probably not in temperatures below about 15C.

There are certain locations like at 9:30 - 9:43 where you cross from Walton Place onto Walton Street where just for a fleeting moment the ambient atmosphere of that area just takes on a strange Metaphysical feeling (of the crossing of time and space) through those quiet little streets and i like to imagine that the ghosts of the people who've lived in these same streets over the last few hundred years are somehow watching this solitary person (W.W.) walking and unbeknownst to them, recording their homes in this incredible modern time.
@talmadge19262 жыл бұрын
I may be one of the ghosts. In the 60s my best friend lived in Walton St. It had such a special calm and charm. Cant explain it. The house had a creaky dumb waiter that operated on pulleys from the kitchen and rose through the dining room floor above. I often walk there in my mind in the hours before dawn when ones mind wanders back to gentler times
