A RARE loco to be used on the Mainline! 45212 at Carnforth! 28/09/24

Nice to see 45212 in action. I remember it taking us on a football excursion from Preston to Stoke in about 1959!

In the US, if a steam locomotive that's owned by a museum or preservation group is brought onto one of the big Class 1 railroad subdivisions, they usually have a diesel locomotive from Amtrak or local commuter railroads for HEP, PTC, and air brakes. ATSF 3751 usually has an Amtrak P42 behind it when doing excursions

45212 is owned by Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and is used all summer on the Jacobite. Steamtown maintain it in summer and probably brought it from Fort William to replace Tangmere which has major repairs to fix.

Excellent video. True, 45212 hasn't been been seen that much recently but she did put quite a lot of main line work around 2017/18. djb trains has captured some good footage around that time.

45212 has been working on the Fort William to Malaig services, i rode behind her on sunday 22/9/24.

Yes it was used to advertise Solvite wallpaper paste. I believe virtually right at the start of its life in preservation. We had a poster showing 45212 covered all over in wallpaper.

might be seen more now jacobites have finished with 45407 as west coast only as 1 locomotive fitted for air brakes

notsure if 45212 is air fitted for brakes ,unless diesel provides air brakes at rear.as usung differnt carrages

Yes she was fitted with air brakes in 2016 at Riley and Sons as part of her mainline upgrade.

My apologies for that, I was led to believe that the Jacobite was off the mainline but I had never looked into that! And also I thought it was on the KWVR. Thanks for your comment Yorkie :)
