Hey guys! I wanted to make this visual experience of what it felt like to come home and edit after AiW. There was one more story to be told that you really never get to see, which is the editing process. The edit was particularly challenging and stressful and I hope this short film conveys the intensity that it was. Although I didn’t get around to interviewing everybody, each person had a big impact on me in their own way. And I’m bummed I didn’t get much footage with TenHun but he has been nothing but a beacon of leadership and respect since we got introduced to each other years ago. He’s a really smart guy and he’s always been there to help me. Thank you Ten for your compassion and your heart for community building. And in terms of my own journey, I am further exploring my narrative filmmaking muscles and pushing my cinematography, writing & storytelling as much as I can. I hope this mash up of interview / BTS / short film was cool to watch. I was inspired a lot by “The Bear” on Hulu as well as Bo Burnham’s “Inside”, of course. And always, thanks for your support!

Wow dude.... This was really emotional. I mean I miss the time there and all you guys, but this was really emotional on a level of relating to how much time we spend in our worlds as youtubers alone in the edit. The pressure of making something your best in the art and the video. On the other end it shows what its like to have support. Support from our peers, and support from our family (Loved the bit with your mom) Going back to the western scene was both hilarious and wholesome as well. The thing I appreciate most about this video is it’s by far the best depiction I’ve yet seen of the conundrum that is the hustle of the modern artist. It’s not enough to be an artist anymore, you have to be a cinematographer, a post production editor and engineer, a screenwriter, an executive producer, a marketing specialist, a social media manager, a public relations specialist, a publicist and on and on. People don’t understand the drama and intensity of the pursuit. Thank you for portraying and representing that for all of us.

Im not a youtuber, but I get the feeling of missing the times when you make the video. 2 Years ago, I made a video of my daughters first year on this earth. It was a hard video to make, because I was happy looking back at all the moments we had, but at the same times, being sad about it being over. Still get a little tear in my eye everytime I watch the video back. But it was also just a hard video to make, hundreds of clips to go through etc... And it was only a 20min video. But props to you Kiptoe, your videos keep blowing me away. Such a talent for storytelling.

Kiptoe, my friend. I sat through the whole video with tears in my eyes. Your videos have always been a peice of art in their own right, even though their purpose is to document the art being created... It's like some kind of Art-ception on your channel! Especially the videos telling the story of the cowboy. Oh. My. Goodness. This video took it up to 11. Firstly, please, I'm freeking begging you dude, don't break yourself for a deadline. Secondly, and only if you have the capacity for it (because it's obvious you have the talent), get into filmmaking. I just loved the quiet "empty house" vibe, and how it contrasts with the exciting AIW event you're trying to edit. It speaks to something so real about being a KZbinr/artist that often goes unseen. And then all the little visual storytelling choices with the clock and eggs, and even being shaved at the end convey the journey of feelings so well without having to say it.
