What shade of black is that paint you used? Because some shades have a bit of blue in them which is why you can mix black with yellow and get shades of green if you're out of green or want a range of greens to be able to gradient through.

But, I might have to call a flag on the play..white yes, you'll definitely get many shades of yellow and yellow only..but that black is a little bit of cheating...teehee! You could have made quite a palette with lemon, cadmium, raw sienna and ochre! Adding (ivory) black is adding blue, so no wonder it becomes green. I use burnt umber or raw sienna to darken my yellows. (you did nail it in the end, layering also works, and mixing white with yellow kinda gives a lemon)

As a Canadian to hear the word “chesterfield” blows my mind. Usually no one outside of Canada knows that word. Typically we use it to refer to a sofa / couch, but I could see it as a big 70’s chair as part of a whole set. Of course you knocked it out of the park. The epic voiceovers are just so cool.

The secret to yellow is paint what you want yellow, pink first. Then paint your yellow over top of the pink. It works amazingly

Epics stuff as always! If I may share a tip how I paint with yellow: When working with yellow I often paint the object/composition first in black & white and then add the yellow tones over it. Saves time with the many yellow layers. I think its called glazing. Saw this method on youtube. Cheers!
