(people with no masks on a running/monitoring the fire drill) 7:24 fire team running the fire drill 7:30 scene fire team leader coordinating the fire team response 8:08 fire hose nozzleman from fire team approaching the fire (the reason he is crawling is a fire's highest temperatures are high in the space, by staying low you avoid high temperatures) 8:25 right behind fire hose nozzleman is the man with the Infrared Thermal Imager, who can see through the smoke, and yells out to the nozzleman where to direct his water stream... 8:52 cover for the full face mask to simulate low visibility due to heavy smoke in the air 14:51 bringing up the gear to set up railing on top of the sail of the submarine (they are inbound to port)

Probably as any surface ship that has similar ( and much larger) has restricted passage near it, but the real danger was not the radar but the radio antenna..basically you got castrated near the large antennaes of the ship i was on, . My guess is that since it probably uses a very low power perhaps not, and why i mean low power is that a nature of a sub is to be silent even in those areas so it at least is less than regular surface ships...but i wouldnt lick it..

The first part of this documentary was the life support station: CO H2 burners, Oxygen Generator, Monoethanolamine CO2 Scrubbers, and Lithium Hydroxide (Li-OH) Scrubbers. The next part HP air compressors, and hydraulic pump room for ships valves. Those submariners were awfully slow to extinguish that galley fire, with too many people down there in the galley. A galley fire can fill nearly all compartments with black smoke in less than a minute. You don't want to blast that deep fat fryer with a water hose, otherwise you'll have burning oil all over the place. There should be a halon system right above those cooking appliances. They should have used hose spray from the bottom up to extinguish and cool the compartment. They should have had that fire under control in no less than a few minutes, general quarters, isolate compartments, surface, and rigging that ship to ventilate. The con can't stop that shaft man, that the maneuvering room's job, specifically the throttleman.
@frankmcgee32134 жыл бұрын

I find those fabric-top respirators interesting. I mean, I guess it's safe to assume the US Navy thought things through so there's no reason to ask, "that fabric protects from smoke and hazardous fumes?" but I would not have expected that. Is there an internal liner, or the fabric is woven tightly enough to provide a seal in-and-of itself?
@mattjacobs5277 жыл бұрын
Actually, i guess the respirator itself fully seals on the face, so that would just protect the head itself from hazards.

*Question: Does anyone know how the sailors protect the submarine when outside on the top? I know sometimes there is a navy boat or war ship that protects them, but how is it done when there’s not a boat nearby the submarine and they are on the surface? Do they have carryable rifles or machine guns that are easily accessible like the navy ships have?*
@brycemiller11453 жыл бұрын
They have torpedos and would most likely radio into nearby vessels and subs to warn them.
@iMatti003 жыл бұрын
Bryce Miller - Just to clarify, I’m talking about speedboat or a rowboat or some thing where I torpedo wouldn’t really work on it. So they would need some kind of machine gun. But it makes sense that they torpedoes to probably still be used on a ship or something.

@compmanio362 жыл бұрын
The inside part of the sub is isolated from the outside hull of the sub. So the noise doesn't travel into the water to be picked up by other ships/subs as much as you might think. Still, they generally don't do this kind of stuff when they are deployed and expecting possible contact, etc.

I don’t necessarily care if someone has a problem with women in the military, it’s that this video doesn’t show that in any way.
