Very enjoyable. I have not seen the inside of an auto-coach before.

An excellent video of a wonderful combination of push pull and pannier. Just one thing about the sound on the train. The object of travelling on a heritage railway and a unique train like this is to enjoy the sight and sound of the train. So why oh why do so many chatter 20 to the dozen ignoring this aspect and spoiling it for those that do keep quiet and want to enjoy the experience? I don't get it. If any of the chatterers read my comment Please reply and explain. Otherwise as I said at the start an very good video.

You met my Pannier Tank Engine sister, no. 6430. She was once a resident on the Llangollen Railway. Once upon a Steam DMU day (she was sandwiched between two Auto Coaches), I was allowed a moment in her cab on the platform 2 side of Llangollen Station. Because he trusted me, the Driver turned it into a short footplate ride in reverse. I hadn't even asked for it. Bet you enjoyed your own ride behind her. What's not to love about God's Wonderful Railway?

Thank you Natalia. We are sure it will be good to have the plaster off. Shame about the flooding through your villages. Yes we have had flooding on the road to Taunton, also the road to Bridgwater - we have to be careful. So much rain will be glad when it stops, but good to see few brief sunny spells between the showers. Love to you all over there in Wales. from Val and Mike xx

I couldn't understand how this train went .... I can only think it travelled out of Minehead carriage first and you were filming out of the window of the carriage ... yet the guy sounded the steam whistle from the end of the carriage too... very strange .... Could you enlighten me 😂😂
@ADMIRALSCORNER Жыл бұрын
Those lttle trains were quite unique in that the loco pushed the special carriage which had the engine controls at its end. They were called motor trains or auto trains and usually only did relatively slow local services. One local to where i grew up used to run with the loco in the middle of two of these special carriages.

Looking at these innovations, were slip coaches ever used on this line?
@ADMIRALSCORNER Жыл бұрын
No they weren't used in this part of the UK.
@mozburns7928 Жыл бұрын
Do you know if there are any of the slip coaches still in use on heritage railways? Stan loves the Thomas episode where they showed the slip coach. Hope you are well

@@mozburns7928 I haven't heard of any anywhere. I'm off to the hospital for more procedures today. I hope I can get there as its been raining heavily for days now and there is flooding around.
@mozburns7928 Жыл бұрын
Evening. Did you manage to get to the hospital? I know what you mean about the rain, it’s been almost non stop here in Hampshire as well. I don’t miss the chemo days.
@ADMIRALSCORNER Жыл бұрын
@@mozburns7928 Yes thanks Moz, it was a rather wet and splashy journey. I noticed several buckets collecting rain drips inside the hospital corridor.
