Believe it or not but an Citroen AX 4x4 is nowadays rarer then the Citroen AX GTI in Europe according to the car selling sites, when you do your homework. In this situation I got lucky, because my AX 4x4 came now already as the third project car from the same location. What location do you ask, well check out the Massive Private Car Collection what I did a series of videos on. and you will understand what I mean. This video is only for a brief introduction. The Purpose of the car is simple, fix it, drive it, have fun and not crash it.

That’s going to be a cool ride. I wish the manufacturers would send some compact 4x4s stateside. It wasn’t long ago that several did. Probably the one most like your Citroën would have been the Subaru Justy. But, with the price of fuel & so much of the US being rural, it’d be nice to have some affordable options besides a gas hog pickup.

You are absolutely right. The Subaru Justy is a good car for example and easier to find then the Citroen AX 4x4. There is the also the Fiat Panda 4x4 and Suzuki Swift 4X4. Then I found also a small Daihatsu Core 4x4, but they are getting expensive. And I also found a Subaru Vivio 4x4. But this small 4x4 car's are dieing out and are hard to find. And frankly the new 4x4 car's, even if they are small are crappy because there is too much electronic involved what raises also the gas consumption. If you find a good small 4x4 then I can only advice you to take it, but search first for part's availability. It makes no sense if you can't get later part's for it, except if the car was very cheap and you don't mind.

@@L.C.A.car_adventure_channel Ha! So true. Yes, I completely forgot about the Suzuki. Bad form on my part as I was heartbroken when Suzuki left the US market. Speaking of Daihatsu, my wife had a Daihatsu Charade hatchback. Not 4WD of course but, still pretty cool. The only other Japanese marquee I could think of off the top of my head that had a small 4WD was Toyota, with the Toyota Tercel… but then I dug a little and found the All-Trac Camry & Nissan Stanza wagon. Of course as you mentioned Fiat but, they were more or less out of the market by the 1980s. One we never saw but I wish we had was the Lada Niva.

@@adriangoede7433 I found a Toyota Tercel beginning of this year and did considered to buy it because it has a rear sliding doors if I recall correctly. But they are also rare. Until now I found only two for sale. All track Tercel and Nissan Stanza are great but didn't seen one for sale until now. Regarding Lada Niva we had plenty of them. They are robust, but the only downside is that they rust. Also the gas consumption is higher then for example Suzuki Swift 4x4 and similar. Although the Lada Niva is the most reliable car from all for the off-road. Years back I seen one Lada Niva with longer wheel base and 5 doors, I believe it was back 2012. That was original manufactured but not sold in central Europe because it didn't meet the regulations. But it was awesome and easy for swap an Mercedes diesel engine inside.
