A rarity....CSX coal empty on the Keystone Sub 🤔

Could be E748-04 empties for Bailey. They run up the Keystone to Newell. Only coal train that does that.

Hey there stranger! Was hoping you was still around, I’m sure your busy with school. Well these are coming from Connellsville yard or possibly from Cumberland Yard? The coal on the CSX Monogahela Sub I’m pretty sure comes from Bailey Mine but that’s a whole different subdivision and river they run along. Yeah, he's coming from Cumberland. These are empties from CONSOL's coal terminal heading back to Newell for reloading. For some reason, CSX sends these E748s and C748s via the Keystone. Every other coal train runs the Mon Sub as you mentioned.

@@lookingback6314 well right after I replied to your comment, there was a southbound Z train, priority intermodal with UPS and FedEx trailers that went by and then a northbound S train (double stack with all solid 48’ and 53’ containers) I didn’t film either, just wanted to relax and watch them go by😁

@@MillersRailfan 😂 thanks Steve, and apparently my excitement and perplexment was for nothing, I was told this empty runs through here regularly headed to the Bailey Mine in southwestern Pennsylvania, they hop on the Monogahela sub down track from where I’ve seen them here. I’m not down here enough to know every single train that runs through but it was a first for me so I’m happy😁. Have a good one Steve👍🏼😎🇺🇸

Nice lash up, and great catch, you could be right, or they are super busy wanted to keep trains running on the Monongahela sub and ran these here to not block traffic. But no mater what was a good one..

@@TriGogglin hey there Pappy, I’m told this empty comes from a Consol Energy power plant somewhere down the line, they take the empties on the Keystone sub to the Monogahela sub for Bailey Mine, so this train isn’t uncommon but for me it is being I’ve never seen it, that’s why I love knowledgeable people commenting on my videos, I learn something new! @@DruSteel69 well Dru it’s all in the radiator section, by that you can tell what model it is, and with CSX if there’s a ⚡️ lightning bolt⚡️ below the cab numbers then that signifies it has AC traction, no bolt⚡️🚫, DC traction. If this was NS I wouldn’t be able to identify them as AC or DC traction as easily, unless I was close enough to see the tiny print of the engine model at the base of the cab. Other than that it’s just something I’m deeply interested in, my locomotives that is, been studying this stuff for years, everything from the prime mover, the cooling systems, dynamic braking, the truck sets, radial or fixed, I can go on and on, I don’t claim to know it all but I’m comfortable with saying I know slightly more than your average person.
