A few tips for you deady, store you’re water drum on top of the exhaust catwalk all day, then You will have warm water to have a wash on an evening, also keep an open bottle of water in the footwell it will keep moisture in the air and stop the night heater drying your mouth out while you sleep 👍🏻

Fair play to all the trampers, as a class 1 driver I decided to stayed on local class 2 as i like my own bed too much & Finding somewhere to park and a restless noisy night wasn't for me. Great video showing the "average" 15 hour day . Enjoyed.

But camping you chose where to park! I could barely get any sleep, too much outside noise, loud vehicles,a fridge will park next to u! Try and sleep on a summers day(if in work ngts) in a cab with windows up! Good luck and all that, but the excitement soon disappears!

I often watch the videos Deady but I rarely comment. I still find you're passion for the job infectious and I think it's great you take a break for the reasons you have given. Also good call on the folk who say they would do it differently / do it better. I'm 3 months into my driving after 20 years of a desk job and these days I look forward to Monday's. I'm a grumpy old bastard though so I quite like being on my own for the day :-) which means it suits me pretty well. I'm also not doing loads of nights out so I manage to balance the family stuff nicely. Carry on as you are mate, the videos are a joy to watch.

Good to see you back Deady, and sorry to hear you've been having a few problems. If you need to spend more time with the family when you get home at the end of the week, then that is exactly what you must do. Family first, work and stuff to do with work much further down the list. On this job, over the years I've been doing it, there's no shortage of people to tell you how you should do it, or your way's wrong. You hit the nail right on the head, and I loved what you said about, if they don't like the way your showing how to do something, then go and make a video of their way. I've been driving a bit longer than you, when I first learned to do things, the kit we used was a bit different, so of course newer drivers will do things slightly different to the routine we do. There's nothing wrong with watching how someone else does something differently, may pick up a few tips for when situation demands. You're a good lad Deady, and if I saw you out and about, I'd want to come up and shake your hand, not coz your a celeb but because your a downright decent guy that makes good and helpful KZbin content about something I also do and am interested in. Regards to yourself and the family, David.

Just watched your vlog “you’ll only ever drive vans” that you did a while back. Have been watching your vids since you started them. At that time I had just passed my class 2, around 2 months before you did. Gotta say Gareth you are by far the best vlogger I have watched on KZbin. You give great content and real life situations on the road. You seem to be like me, a real people pleaser but sometimes you have to put your foot down (so to speak) and say no more to these people that criticise you. You have done that pal and have achieved what you set out to do. Keep up the great stuff you are doing. You have a fellow trucker behind you all the way. From Tom J.

Hi Deady. Im not a trucker. I just enjoy watching your video's. I've learned a lot by watching them. That's why if I write a comment, I just say I like it. It's not for me to chritasise how you drive the truck as I don't know the first thing about driving one. If it wasn't for truckers we'd be in a right mess. Don't think some people realise that. Your doing a good job.

I've got my Theory in December and my mums helping to pay for my lessons for C2 then C1. My dad was a HGV Driver, I am following his steps even though there is a lot of people trying to push people away from truck driving, it's what I want to do, I want to work alone, I work in retail now but want to go solo and it's the only industry that I want to be in. Your an inspiration and although working in tramping is like going to the Army because you don't see home enough you are providing a service and providing food on the table for your family and money in the bank to live a good life. Thanks Deady for showing pure dedication, a subscribe from me. Nathan

My old mans 73, when i was in my very early teens, he regularly drove to the middle east, Saudi, Iran, Turkey. He’d be a way for 6-7 weeks at a time. (Ashtran) No power steering in the trucks then, fridges, aircon, and all the luxuries a lot of the trucks have today. I’m 52 now and wish i’d done my HGV.

Brilliant video my man! I've been binging on your vlogs for a good while now as I'm pretty much certain that I want to begin a career as a HGV driver. I did used to drive buses but came away from it due to the hassle from the general public kinda fucking with my mental health, getting yelled at, threatened and told to kill myself a couple of times by people that were angry over such trivial things. But the driving part was fine. My favourite days were the ones where I'd just be taking buses out of service to different depots so I think becoming an HGV driver would be the best step for me and your videos have given me so much insight into it. Thank you so much man! All the best to you!

I watched this by chance and its funny that I started recognising the roads. That's Wrexham where I grew up. I also agree with you that roundabouts are dangerous in hgv. I swear, 50% of car drivers have no clue how to navigate a roundabout, especially moreso if there are more than 2 lanes.

Thanks for the videos Deady. Just keep doing what you're doing, it's your channel, and if people don't like anything, they can go watch something else. I get what you mean about the job being boring. I drive for an organic fruit and veg farm doing multi drop in a van, I do the same 4 routes each week (Tuesday - Friday) and it bores the hell out of me, I know all 400 drops a week without the need of a satnav and it's monotonous. Hopefully in the next few months I'll be getting my class 2 licence as I want to be on the road more, and not be in and out of a van a hundred times a day. Look forward to the next video. 👍👍

It's weird watching this as a truck driver in the USA. The trucks you guys have are tiny! Right now I'm in my Cascadia, and it's got a full size bed, a twin size bed, about a half dozen cabinets, a mini fridge, a 32" TV. You guys have cabover trucks, my hood extends about six feet in front of the windshield. I'm pretty sure my engine is bigger than your sleeper.

Best of luck to you mate, I am 21 soon and in exactly the same position as you. I had a absolutely fun job but things turned bad when I nearly beat the crap of bullying supervisor. I wanted to do the licence for class 1 or 2 anyways and if not for me quiting my job I would probably delay that for too long. If you enjoy driving then this job will be great for you. If I can give you advice look for trunking jobs, refrigerator units are good, usually short distances between depos or 3-4 hrs one way and back. I know people who work 9-11 hrs tops a day and they get bloody good money for that. (it takes time to find such a job, but it's possible ). Entire qualification for Class 1 including class c exams medicals etc would cost you £2400-£2700. (loan in my case) Depending where you find your course. 3month in one go and you could have class 1.

Same here mate thought about getting into it with the current shortage. My old man was a trucker and so's one of my old school mates, both say it's brilliant but it does have its downsides, like any other job. Also the responsibility is a bit nerve racking, staying in control of a 50 tonne machine for 12-15 hours at a time is no easy feet - I barely passed my regular driving test!

I have meet bloke driving car transporter who was 23. He started with a ridgid from age of 19. I am 21 and doing my licence, so it's possible but, believe me its not a job for someone reckless (young). I have done driving as a job for past year but it wasn't lorries so I am bit anxious and other most important thing is insurance and experience. 1. Most companies won't insure you until you are 25. Experience is hard to gain as it's harder to find a job due to young age, you take whatever job is given to you and gain experience before you can look for something better. Like some some other chap advised you, look for other profession until mid 20s.

Great Vlog Deady, me and the Mrs love watching them together. Don't worry what other think about you or what they are doing. You are You and there is only one of you. Please keep up the good work and the great entertaining Vlogs. I'm not a trucker, just a pen pusher in an office. I do follow a lot of Vlogger, Wittering Trucker, Scott Andrews, Craig, Jenko, Dazzer and lots more. Each one of you upload different content which is great, if you were all doing exactly the same we would get bored. You are all individuals doing a hard enough job without much gratitude. I for one highly appreciate the job all truckers do for the population of the country. Keep going Deady #thumbsup

Hi mate I know this video is a year old but I just wanted to share my driving days ... I used to drive for Grattan plc from 88 to 97 .. I passed my hgv class 1 in 91 . I used to do trunking from Dunstable Bedfordshire up to Leeds and Bradford. For the first few years I loved it ,but you are right it does become really boring ..it's good that you do this just to take the boredom away for a bit ... I left Grattan in Dec 97 and took a complete career change and trained to become a telecomms engineer for British telecom.. I did that for 13 years and it was very very different lol . I retired recently aged 60 .. It's strange because I now look back at my driving days with fond memories . Apart from trunking I did multi drop in a 7.5 toner ..tbf I enjoyed that more , probably because I had more human interaction Keep on trucking mate ..or try something different 👍
