I don't have these tires on my own truck for winter. I Have KO2's. However. Believe it or not. The Michelin MS2 is a really good winter tire. It does good in slushy conditions and has tons of sipes for the the snow. And they wear good for when it's not snowing and you're driving on the hot top. They do not look cool at all. But they get the job done.

Good video. The best winter AT/MT tire I have ever owned is the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss. It is classified as an AT tire, but it is really a hybrid AT/MT tire. I currently have them on a Bronco Raptor, and they are awesome up here in Idaho. The Raptor came with K02s. The K02s and Baja Boss's are about the same on hard pack (both 3PMSF rated), but in deep snow it is not even close.
@jerryfrench29815 ай бұрын
Put them on my Land Cruiser & no complaints from me. I have Wildpeaks on the Ranger & Toyo open country in the old Range Rover sport. All good tyres but for serious offroad I'd take the Baja Boss. For the blacktop the Toyo's are awesome.

The Nitto Mudgrapplers are by far the best tire I've ever owned for what I need. They LAST a LONG time for a bogger. Yeah they're loud, but my truck is a lifted truck with loud exhaust. I off-road about 20% of the time and at 15psi (no bead locks) I haven't got stuck with them once, they look great and the sidewalls are strong af. Bought some BFG KO2's and after 20K I replaced them with Mudgrapplers.
@JohnnyReb20003 жыл бұрын
Both tires definitely have their pros and cons in the snow. The mentioned difference between hard-packed snow and powdery snow would most definitely cause different results. As for the stopping, unless began applying the brakes at the same speed with both tires, the results of that test are meaningless. Just got a set of General Grabber A/TX on my F-150 almost a week ago. My friend bought the same tire for his Ford Ranger and was satisfied with how it performed when he had to make a 6 hour drive home from an off-roading trip in a snowstorm. I'm hoping to get a chance to test them out in the snow before winter's over, but there's no guarantee I'll get a chance here in Georgia.
@johnwiebe15793 жыл бұрын
I've had a set of 33" ATXs on our 06 Yukon since June. Their winter performance is pretty impressive. Tons of nasty washboarded mountain roads and trail navigation, they've held up beautifully.
@phild98133 жыл бұрын
These results illustrate why the Duratrac, and maybe a couple others, makes such a good compromise. It is passable in the mud, but much more than passable in snow and ice. All depends on where you’re willing to compromise your performance.

exactly....the compromise will have to be made somewhere. we all want 'the best overall' performance.

Do a video on the effects of sipping in snow and ice. I live in Alaska. I was running a 35x12.5x17 toyo AT extreme II's and they were complete garbage in the snow/ice. I bought a set of Cooper Evolutions in 295/70/17 and had them sipped. They suddenly perform great in snow and ice. Tire shops that are experienced with sipping here up North usually only do the inside tread blocks of the tire to help the shoulder maintain stability. There's a lot of myths about sipping. Done correctly it can actually extend the life of your tire because a sipped tire runs cooler and temp is one of the main components of tire wear.

Few things. The stopping power of those M/T was so far apart should have scored M/T 5 A/T 3. I’d be interested in how much more acceleration the A/T had vs the M/T? Was that score appropriate? Second, I’d be interested in a 2wd vs 4wd comparison. Also, I’d like to see how the A/T performs in snow deeper than 2 inches.

Actually just got a 6" lift on my '10 Ram 4x4 today. At nearly 7,000ft elevation, we get alot of snow, which then melts and makes the dirt roads really muddy. All terrain tires pack up with mud pretty bad from my experience. Mud tires can be louder, but that extra noise gives potential deer a bit more notice that I am approaching on the pavement. How you brake, steer, and accelerate are bigger factors in snow driving IMO. If you can, stay home if the snow/ice is bad. By all means, SLOW DOWN, saw 6 vehicles that slid out/crashed in the snowy pavement, just today on the way to my appointment! I am sure speed or sudden braking was to blame, not the tread on their vehicle. Looking for a set of 35 inch tires now, either getting BFG A/T or M/T, both are great tires. Honestly, going to flip for it! I thought the music in the video was absolutely terrible. Thanks for the review. 👍

I thought I was going to learn something here but by viewing the tests and then how you rated each tire had me confused. I seen fishtailing with the AT’s and a calm turn on the MT’s but the score you gave each, to me did not make sense. In the end the only difference in the scores was a 2 so I guess whatever floats your boat buy them. I ran the Nitto’s until they got so loud (louder when the wear) and the traction offroad was… ok, but I would never buy again. I will stick with my 37X12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT's

I live in southern Oregon (country life) so we see a fair amount of snow yearly. I am not saying that ATs or RTs are not good in the snow but I believe you are biased to ATs just like I am biased to MTs. Watching the video I see just as much spin or more from the Terra hunters and you originally said so as well with it floating on start up vs digging like the MT. I have said it before and continue to believe that the performance you get from a tire is based on the tire, meaning the cheaper the tire the worse the performance, cheap MTs are not going to do very well so if your going with an MT you should go with a Toyo or Nitto level MT for sure.
