If you look at the surface are of a 35mm vs 120 roll they are about the same. If you notice, a 35mm negative strip is twice as long as a 120, but half as wide, both being generally equal in total negative area. I count each roll as being the same.

I have Cinestill Df96 Monobath arriving today. I'm 75 and only learned about this new quick deal a few days ago. I need to watch KZbin more. Great video and I also appreciate your sense of humor.

Thanks a lot, Dale! Best of luck. If you've never used a monobath before the first time feels extremely magical, at least it did for me. I've been meaning to try the Ultrafine mono but haven't as of yet.

@@AdamWelch I tried Df96 this morning on a ca. 1960's roll of 127 and it worked great. I'm impressed.

The cheesy smiles after the shots get me every time. I have this and the c41 chemicals ready to order next week. Can't wait to see what happens from the duaflex roll

Man you might not believe it...but I'm stupidly excited to see you start getting into film. And it's awesome that you're developing it yourself! I've actually got to get some more C-41 chems myself but Freestyle is still out of stock on my favorite kind. Anyway, I'll be keeping up with your film experience on Insta. **awkwardly smiles**

I have actually put this in the microwave to heat it up. Be sure you fit the cap loosely or pour it into an open container. Experiment in 15 - 30 second increments until you get to desired temperature. Do at your own risk, but I have not seen an adverse effect on the chemistry. Probably not recommended by anyone, but it works.

Yeah Lorenzo, chemical speaking the microwaves shouldn't harm the chemistry itself especially under these circumstances. Good point about loosening the cap haha

Promising, I haven't used a monobath in twenty years or so. Might have to give this a try next road trip!

A company named "Ultrafine" also makes a monobath which I'm now itching to try. I agree that this sort of things would be a huge help for developing on the move.

That'd be a nice comparison video, monobaths and a standard like D76 compared on same film.

Honestly I'm kicking myself for not using a smaller format for the test, where the grain would be more evident. And like you said, a comparison between a few developers would be useful as well. Actually, consider this a video I've got in the works :)

@@pilsplease7561 I absolutely agree. I've used it with some Arista EDU Ultra 100 4x5 and can't tell much difference between it and my XTOL, at least with unexhausted chems. I've been considering trying it with some of my Ilford Ortho and develop by inspection, more or less just to watch it during each phase.

Hi Adam, I was wondering how to count my rolls. I have been pretty sure that I count my every pour as one time - I mean, it does not matter how many rolls of film I do develop once. It does not matter if I do 2 rolls in one time 135mm 16 times (32 in total) or 1 time 35mm or 120mm.
@AdamWelch
@AdamWelch 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, Konrad. Very good question. I've been counting mine in terms of surface area, with a 36 exposure roll of 35mm being roughly 80 sqaure inches (.0465 meters sq) and then base my other formats around this number. Since the chemicals are exhausted the more the react with the films emulsion, it would stand to reason that even a single pour of the chemicals would become more exhausted when developing 8 rolls at once than they would with two pours developing only 2 rolls at once. So, I would count my film by the rolls (or surface area). Remember, too, that this developer seems to degrade fairly quickly once opened. I hope this helps!
